Suggestions Wall Film

Hello All. Happy Friday.
We were wondering here at our shop if their is a go to wall film that would be good for any type of wall?
We have used Avery 2611 Wall Film for years. For the most part no issues.
But lately, the material does not seem to hold up so good. Fails more times then not.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

The problem you're seeing now is the paint on the wall. New paints are made so dirt and stains don't stick for easy cleaning. Problem is vinyl doesn't stick then. You may have to resort to vinyls which are not removable and may tear the surface off the sheetrock or possibly the pain loose from the wall when removed.

100% agree with unclebun. Sherwin William Low VOC comes to mind as one giving issues, you end up having to go with something more aggressive if you want it to stay in place.

Assuming you have a solvent/latex/UV printer, try Retac from Drytac. It has a unique adhesive that sticks well to even the low-VOC paints. Best of all, it usually removes without any harm to the paint or wall even YEARS after installation.

Better yet, it comes in Smooth, Canvas, Sand, and Linen...the textures hide the imperfections in the wall. You don't have to laminate the textures, either, saving you time and money.

I can send you a test roll. They are no charge we just need a UPS number to cover the few bucks for freight. It will be worth it.

I'm about to use this stuff for the first time next week, looking forward to seeing how it works. Temporary event install only up for a few days. Went with the Retac Smooth 3.2mil.

I'd love for you to post a review. With it being only the 3.2mil, just like with 40C or other typical adhesive vinyl films, you are going to see the imperfections in the wall a lot more than the 6mil. But it sounds like this is just a temporary up-and-down graphic where it should meet expectations.

Will do! I thought about using 40C but this stuff has a better price point and sounds like it should remove easier after being up for a short time.

Fairly high-profile location with graphics going on wood veneer pillars and elevator doors, so I couldn't risk any possible damage on removal.

Will report back when it's done in a couple of weeks.

I really like the General Formulations 226HTR (High Tack Removable - I know, both high tack and yet removable - amazing). We have found there are walls where this is not the best choice, so our default wall vinyl is MacTac Rebel 528 High Tack - sticks to almost any wall. Biggest problem we have found is freshly paint and or washable (often includes silicon in the paint).

I agree with signhermd - we have been using the GF 226 HTR for the last year or two and the installers love it - have had no problems so far

With these removable materials that stick to low grip surfaces can you do cut lettering? Or do they need to be larger sheets?
We have cut as small as 1/4" graphics and they've worked for years - you can peel them off of course, but they have not fallen off in our experience.

Me too, I have been using this material for about year and a half, last friday, I just installed a 118' tall by 34fett in length of this material and the thickness helps a lot for install, using a latex printer, no worry about scratches.

GF came out with a demanded 227, but is about 3.2mil. I will try that also.
