Warmup error

Hi all,

New recruit from England, based in the Lake District, we have been around since 1968, we take on most projects but specialise in quarry safety signage.
We have had a Gerber Edge since 1997 and we have found it a great tool, we mainly use it now for label / safety printing, unfortunately we can't continue with our warranty as Spandex UK says the machine is too old. It has run great for 6 months with no warranty but now is showing a 'WARMUP ERROR' - anyone out there know how to fix this problem - I assume its just a sensor problem ?

Thanks

Gil

Welcome from OK USA.

There is an edge forum or 2 on the net. You might want to try one of those. There is also printingdigital.net that you can link to from the banner below.

Good luck

Welcome to our forum.

You're going to be reliant on Spandex for any service or parts if needed. Here in the U.S. when I've had similar problems, my distributor would work in conjunction with Gerber to send out power supply and other modules for comparatively reasonable prices as opposed to factory service. We would then be billed for which ever module fixed the problem.

My initial suggestion to you is to unplug and ground the machine then remove the black metal side covers so you can see the main boards and connections.

  • Blow out any accumulated dust using low pressure.
  • Visually inspect for any obvious problems.
  • Remake every connection.
  • Plug back in and power up to see if you did any good.
Short of that, call Spandex and see if they will work with you in the same way as Gerber does here in the U.S.

What Fred said, and be aware that when you put the machine on its side theres a good chance that your hydraulic lifts for the cover may fail, so be cautious and ready for them to weaken. I have used a bungee cord to hold open our edge after we turned it on its side for a good cleaning and board pull and pull.

I was getting a "Thermister error" which is what you may be referring to.
I found that by resetting the machine, the problem went away. This was about 4 years ago.
Now, I can't remember exactly the sequence, but it was something like:
Hold the reset key while turning on power. I think that brings you to a menu where you can set everything to default or reset or something like that.
Maybe someone here can be more clear on it.
Also, try http://4edgetalk.com and do a search there
