Warning... Do not buy from CMYK Parts

I have a thread in the Mutoh forum that is about the trouble I have had getting my Falcon Outdoor Jr. running. After a lot of checking and testing and help from a few nice people on that thread, I have come to the conclusion that the supposedly brand new print head I purchased is bad. After several phone calls to CMYK Parts someone finally answered and asked me to email them a test print, which I did. They responded asking if there was ink flow coming out of both lines into the waste bottle, which there is. After that I have not been able to reach them again by phone or email. For most small parts I would just write it off and order a new one from a different company, but this is a $700 print head. I just wanted to make everyone aware of this situation, hopefully it will keep someone else from getting burned.

How do you know the print head is bad ?
Maybe it was a good print head and you broke it while installing it.

:pops_blinking: Perhaps this is a good example of the value in using Signs 101 Merchant Members for your parts and supplies.

...which i've done before. a drop of ink had trickled from my dampers onto the ribbon cable and down into the connection of the printhead. fried upon power-up.

How much would a Roland stealership charge for one installed with warranty?

CMYK should have communicated with the OP. Their behavior is wrong.

Yes, in the service manual, there is a huge warning about covering your boards while changing print heads. I changed two at once and payed strict attention to the service manual and had no problems. Im not saying that you made an error when installing, but it is a possibility. That being said, any service/parts company should treat every customer with courtesy. btw, I thought cmyk was a merchant member. I could of swore I saw a banner ad on signs101 advertising printheads for $750 or so. Could of sworn it was cmyk, but cant find them in merchant member area.

I cannot prove that I didn't mess the print head up. But I do know that I followed the instructions in the service manual exactly and read multiple other forums and blogs about how to work on this printer before I attempted anything. I have always worked on all of my things, from cars and trucks to heavy equipment and even my Gerber Edge. But the main reason I am unhappy and also the main reason for posting this is because of the fact that they have ignored me since they found out their was an issue. I did not send them an angry email demanding a replacement, I asked them if they had any suggestions that I may have overlooked. As soon as I sent the email with the picture of the bad nozzle check they stopped answering calls or emails. That is just poor customer service and poor business practices in my opinion, and I was hoping to keep another member of this forum from going through the same thing. And yes, I should've purchased everything from merchant members, but I was foolishly trying to save some money. Several of the parts did come from Solvent Inkjet, they were great to work with and I will definitely give them all of my business in the future.

I pulled both heads just to check everything. As you can see in the pictures, there is no ink on the board and there was none on the ribbon cable. Everything appeared to be fine. I reinstalled both heads according to the service manual, and I still get the exact same nozzles missing in the test print.

Sorry to hear about your troubles...hopefully someone steps up to the plate and gives you some sort of answer.

I don't know anything about Mutoh's, but maybe if you posted a picture of the nozzle test someone may have some insight as to what's causing it? (just a thought)

Good luck, hope you get it sorted out.

I posted it in the thread I started in the Mutoh forum, but I'll put it here also just to see if anyone has any ideas. Just out of curiosity... if I would have goofed up and done something that "fried" the board on the print head, would it not be completely dead and not halfway printing? I only ask because I have no idea... I would think an electrical short would cause complete failure but I'm no printer expert.
