Weight of double face pole sign

Hello
Been reading this forum for a while.Seems to be mostly about printing and vinyl shops as far as questions and answers go. My question is how do you estimate a signs weight while on the columns. I know there are a lot of variables but I have used the 10 pounds a square foot rule which seems close in most cases. But of course it is not exact science. Do you guys have a different method that you have found pretty reliable?

Type of face flex face,polycarb,acrylic, thickness of faces
1 sided 2 sided
cabinet material etc.
If you do research you can come up with a number.
There are specs available for every component that make up a light box.
Just add em up
