What's the best paint for ultra board dimensional letters?

Good morning,

We have a client that wants to custom paint the edges of 1" ultra board letters.
What is the best paint to use and paint method? Spray gun? Brush?
I was told there is paints that burn the sides of the foam and I am kindly
asking for any recommendations.

And what color are the edges gonna be ??​

interior its a purple.

Tough color to match, but a latex will not attack the membrane. I would prime it first with a heavy water-based primer, maybe 2 coats and then put your purple on it. Keep the top covered and give that a final coat or two once the edges are finished.

I have used drywall spackle on edges in the past. Let it dry and sand. Then apply primer and paint.

Sw superpaint is decent. Spray it would look best, foam roller second.

How long would you would you let it dry before installing? As far as the sides go?
