When 9 out 20 posts on Page 1 are spam

Can one of the mod's please explain the steps they go through when removing threads? It must be a long, drawn-out process??

I reported a few as 'ad' and 20 minutes later they were gone but quickly got bored when others appeared few hours later.

Believe me, they are very annoying to us as well.
I think I removed 20 new spammers yesterday and it's frustrating as hell.
It takes about 15 secs per post to remove and ban the user.
I still question the sign up procedure, but unfortunately I don't think anything has been done to enhance it yet.

silent admin....

if he's too busy to go through new members like the old admin...maybe he needs to appoint another admin.

Last round of the same topic someone suggested an anti spam system used on other forums. Admin said he was going to put it in place that night. I guess he ran out of time? It must be pretty tough running an internet based business. Makes me glad that I only have employees and overhead to deal with.

It really makes one miss the old fearless leader we had (Fred). He and the mods were on top of it all the time.
When you allow just anyone to step inside your gate, the landscape soon deteriorates. :banghead:

Well, you have to remember too, that there was a group that believed that doing an anti-spam deal would actually stifle "free speech". That eliminate any post was a big no-no. Can't please everyone.

It was I who suggested it. I'm fairly certain signups are made easy, to generate traffic to the website to make the website more Proffittable. One of the reasons why the site went from mostly professionals, to mostly customers/ people wanting to do their own stuff . It brings more traffic to the site... But is a short term gain, long term loss in my opinion

The software I suggested keeps bots out, while the end user doesn't notice anything different at all. Win win for both sides.

I don't think it's been implemented yet... So maybe admin is busy. But this is a pretty big problem that keeps getting worst... So hopefully he can make the time.

True, but what I was referring to was for new user signups. I just chose the wrong wording for the captcha garbage or whatever it is that stops the bots from signing up and posting spam.
