Who are some of the leaders in large format graphic industry.

i guess when you want to improve your business it's good to study the best. i am not familiar too much on what is outside of my city. i am wondering in the large format and grand format world, who are some of the biggest players? i try doing research but there isn't really any data relevant. most of it is based on the printing industry, which can be so board. I am more specifically searching for the leaders in printing/installing for billboards, banners, wall graphics, window graphics, trade show, event, fleet wraps, etc. I can't seem to find a large company doing it. most of it were small local shops.

Interesting - Pattison group also owned Coroplast (that plastic stuff we all use) until late last year when the other main player inteplast bought them from pattison.

Well I think that your question is a bit broad, and I also believe you need to think locally. So my answer is going to be in parts.

1. Focus on a specific area of sign making, and lets for example do trade show displays.
Are you looking for the leader of sales to the trade show industry?
Are you looking for the leader in print and production to the trade show industry?
Are you looking for the leader in design for the trade show industry?
Are you looking for the leader in equipment sold to the trade show industry?

Easily, even if you just focus on the big players on the west coast, there are 3-4 juggernauts that play in the equipment arena. At least 3-4 wholesale printers that play in the print and production.

So you need to think very clearly about what you are searching for, just keep filtering it down and once you know what you are looking for, then searching for the companies that do that is a lot easier if you are looking to emulate the top players.

Sorry by not making my question clear. I am a new start up in the large format graphic industry. We have a latex 64' hp printer, laminator and plotter. We have a in house design team, few subcontractors for installers. The main service we provide now is design, print and install on soft and hard goods. I don't have any experience with making analog signs(the one they lit up in front of the retail store) and I am not looking to get into that anytime soon. Our focus is trying to help client growing their business by carefully identifying their need and turn it into a digital printed graphics.
Since I can't find a leader in the digital printed graphics, I decide to post a thread here hoping somebody will know.

I guys who are the top 10 printers in the large format digital graphics. Not company like R R Donelly that prints everything from books to yellow page.

Can I offer you some different information or are you just looking for that...

Quite frankly, a one printer operation stuck to a brand that does not say digital graphics
is going to need or go about something in a completely different manner than a company
doing a billion a year in print sales.
