Why can't flexi handle transparencies in gradients?

Can someone explain to me why flexi can't do transparencies in gradients? It seems like it should be simple enough. But when you try to do it... it doesn't let you.

What makes you think it can't?

Create an object.
Fill it with a gradient.
Do Effects->Lens->Transparent

...and there you are.

Or did you mean a gradient transparency in the manner of Corel's interactive transparency? If so then no, you can't. As to why you can't, who knows.

I think he's talking about having a transparent colour in your gradient. (ie. from red to transparent) Which Flexi cannot do...well not that I'm aware of?

That would be the previously mentioned gradient transparency ala Corel. No, you can't. It doesn't matter why you can't, you simply can't.

The classic work-around is to rasterize the effect(s) and print the flattened TIF or JPG file.
