why do I get a little bit of Cyan in my Yellow (Mimaki JV33)

Hi guys, every morning I notice a bit of cyan mixed in the yellow channel on my JV33. One regular cleaning takes care of it pretty quick and recovers yellow back to clean yellow. After sitting for a while it would happen again, but the a single cleaning takes care of it. The fact that cleaning works so well tell me (hopefully) it's nothing wrong with the head or manifold, otherwise it would be much harder to recover. I'm thinking a bit of contamination may actually happen on the print head surface while capped. What do you think is happening? how can I fix the issue? Thanks in advance!!!

Cross contamination happens for three main reasons:

1. The pump is partially clogged which is not allowing the cap to drain fast enough which causes ink to flow back up into the other colors.

2. The damper on the cyan and/or yellow is failing which can cause ink to drop out of the head when capped and get sucked back up into the yellow.

3. The head is damaged internally and is unrecoverable.

1 and 2 are way more common. 3 happens on older heads, heads using high solvent inks, or heads that have been flushed too hard.

It sounds like you just need to do a yearly maintenance part replacement and should be good to go.

I've had it happen before. It was a damper and as far as replacements go its not too bad price wise.
