why have I been using medium tack premask all these years?

Quit buggin' me
High tack is near mandatory for 3M Electrocut..... and if the roll is old at all it can get extremely difficult to remove from the synthetic liner.

I agree with this.
After cutting 7725 we wipe down the vinyl with just a little alcohol before weeding to make sure the high tack sticks.
In desperate times with a roll that will not release easily I'll lift up the vinyl off the backing and lay it back down (with our manual laminator) before cutting - especially if the layout has a bunch of small detail or text.
Getting fresh 7725 in the middle of the Pacific is a crap shoot at best.

What size roll are you trying to order!? We get 54" scps-55...and ND Winnipeg stocks it for us. Kind of ironic how they always tell us that they only stock some items in toronto....but you have to wait too?

Also...what kind of vinyl are you having issues with? (too lazy to re-read thread sorry if you already mentioned it!)

'Just called a minute ago ND MTL & ND TOR for SCPS-55 availability. Not in stock but they have a roll in Edmonton so I can get it next Tuesday... I mentioned Winnipeg branch is "supposed" to keep one in stock for a shop over there but it says "0" in their inventory... well...

'Will get mine next week. 'Hope it's gonna work well with my liners (few different brands). 'Ever tried the SPCS-44x ? ('just seen it on 3M website).

I use almost exclusively 3M SCPM-3 for over 2 decades... except for few rolls harder to pull from time to time, I'm plently satisfied ('never paid really much more than other cheaper brands... i.e. $53.80 for 14" it is premium paper after all (thicker).

I spoke to the 3M sales rep and he says that the 7725 should easily be removable using the 3m scpm 2 or 3. I tried and same thing, virtually nothing lifts off even after putting it through the laminator. I know it's only 20 logos, but between the time to cut them and weed them it can take easily over half a day for 1 person to do. Ugggg. and to think I just brought in 2 50 yard rolls of this vinyl in black and white....double uggg:banghead:

Try pulling some of the un-cut 7725 off the backing and compare how hard it is to lift to any other non air-egress cast vinyl you have. I'm betting it will pull much harder and you should try to get the rolls replaced if you did not purchase them to long ago.
Don't feel bad about loosing half a days work over this.
We just went through a major project using sunflower, kelly green & tomato red 7725 that was flown in and was too hard to remove from it's backing to be mounted with our laminator. It pulled so hard it stretched off the backing and could not be made to line up. I ended up doing it by removing the liner and floating each piece into place by hand. All I could do was to work as quick as possible & try not to think of how much money I was loosing on each one. I had tried to avoid this by ordering the same colors in 7125 with the paper backing but it was not available in the time frame I needed. I had to fly off island to do the install, floating all the components into place at each site turned a 5 day job into a 9 day job.

Usually 7725 worked great for me but then I recall I had a roll of 24" white that was just "unusable" because too hard to pull.

In general, what I like about the 7725 is the fact you can cut very small caracters w/o issue and for multi-layers logo, the registration is easier as the liner isn't affected by humidity.

But... nothing's perfect

Okay here's another thought.....is it possible there was too much weight on the cuts? I just had a flashback of trying to remove 3M translucent from the electrocut backer and boy was it a b!tch when the blade cuts into the liner.

I am wondering if I hit it with to much down force... you can see the cut in the liner once it is removed, but I think I have always seen that. I am going to test a new one and drastically remove down force to see how it weeds and removes from the backer.
