Will cut vinyl work?

Hopefully someone can answer this question for me...

We need to cut vinyl to be placed on a painted alum surface.
(also 1 "word" will go on to fiberglass)

I want to use a cast (3M or Oracal) black and edge seaL

Here is what I am worried about...
(quoted from an email)
"I'm fine with using vinyl unless it is an alcohol based adhesive (will be used in a room with epoxy stripper type chemicals most of which are ethanol based). If it is then we will have to talk about alterations via painted stencil or clear coat over the vinyl."

Will the vinyl hold up in that room?
(what would you do?)

I was thinking if its edge sealed it would be fine...any advice is greatly apreciated!

Thank you,
Marsha

Um....clear coat perhaps? I can't see the vinyl itself holding up to epoxy stripper! It would probably flat destroy any vinyl you put on there.

Are you afraid of fumes ruining the vinyl or are these people sloppy and gonna have stripper flying all over the place ??

Not knowing exactly what you're doing or how the end product is really being used, I would think painting it on and then clearing over the top of that would be a safer bet.

They say that "we apply it in a highly controled way" (the stripper).
I asked "will the lettering get chemicals on it?" they said No.

This is for the aircraft ind. (spirt).

Yes, the fumes are what they are worried about.
The strong fumes making the vinyl peel.

Thanks for your help!

Can you contact your vinyl manufacturer and ask them?
Sounds kind of tricky to me, like the jobs I get!
:)

We did, was waiting on a call back.
Both Oracal and 3M said it would be fine.
They both said basicly the same, so must be right! lol

So we are going to give it a try with vinyl.
Its (2 of each) "NO STEP" in 3" black (they asked for impact font)
CAUTION bla bla bla (2"x40" black, same font)
ACTUAL WEIGHT OF TOOL = 1700 LBS (2"x34" black same font)
(Oracal 751)

Maybe they will let us take a pic of it...lol..I dont even realy know what the thing is!

Thanks for the help everyone!
