Ok, so I downloaded, or tried to download the VW 5 file as provided but it asked for a disk. should I install my 4.0 disk at that point?

So I installed VW 5 on my win 7 os and its asking for to start burning the disc...what do I do?Download for VW 5 with the updater to 5.5.1 - SP300V should run on 4, but runs better on 5.5.1

You can Burn it to a DVD if you want or just open and extract the ISO file with 7zip or any software can manage ISO files.
Use an extractor program like winzip to unpack the iso file onto your computer, then just run the setup from there. An ISO file is a disk image, but you don't need to actually burn a DVD for it
IN WINDOWS 10 you can “mount” an iso file. Which means you can use it as though it already on a dvd and inserted in a dvd drive. If you have a windows 10 computer you can burn the iso to a dvd. Then take the disk, browse to it and complete the process.
you are just running into a couple extra steps.
