Wont Load Material - GraphTech FC 1500-130

We have a GraphTech FC 1500-130

I can load the material and the machine loads fine and everything but when I get the the screen to choose "roll 1", "roll 2" or "sheet and when i select any of them to find the length of the material it goes really really slow and goes all the way to the end of the plotter and stops and starts beeping. Any ideas on what might be wrong and why it is doing this?

Is there a lazer that reads the edge of the material and the pinch rollers?

The plotter when it homes to the right and starts going back across the material when it wont read the material if that helps anymore

I am really not trying to be a...uh....rude. And, I'm actually kind of curious. But - isn't there some kind of FastSigns tech support or anything? I would just think of two days with no plotter.....
