"wrapping" Bicycle Helmets

I'm wanting to wrap the sides and back of a "road" style bicycle helmet with reflective vinyl. It won't be a full wrap, just the back, sides, and part of the front.
I was thinking of cutting strips of white reflective vinyl about 3 to 4" tall, wrap the "ribs" of the helmet, and then cut out the vent holes.
The questions:
1. What vinyl do you recommend? (especially I don't get run over from behind)
2. What installation method(s) do you recommend?

Thanks!

Reflective films will distort to wrap to the shape, but the reflective properties will quickly degrade as the distortion increases. Your idea of using strips is best. Thats how firefighter helmets are done.
