X3 Text Outlining

I'm getting frustrated trying to figure out how to make a cut ready file to export to my cutting software. I like when letters have an outline around them like the picture I've attached below. I'm using my outline tool to create 2 seperate outlines. The problem is that it creates a cutline for each edge of the outline on both outline plus the original letters. This results in way to many cut lines. I know there's go to be a way to simplify things and make the 3 lines needed to cut this out. Can someone give me the steps please! Thanks, Darrin

break a part

ungroup the two contours

select the inner contour and the outer contour and back minus front

Yep, use contours instead of outlines. This will give you cuttable artwork, unlike what you'd get from using outlines.
