Yellow outline around text VP-300i

Hi Folks, I'm new to wide format printing. I purchased a 2 year old VP-300i recently.

Now after setting it all up again, my prints are coming out with a yellow "tinge" around the edges of any text or image that uses yellow in its properties (ie red, green orange, etc). Pure colours such as cyan and magenta are fine, no tinges of yellow.

I've attached and example of a red "D" that clearly shows the yellow border. Also attached a test print.

Machine has has bulk in it is for 18 months from the previous owner, dont know much about the ink, Taiwanese, called Image In Colour Eco Solvent.

Was about to convert the machine back to Roland inks but am concerned that maybe I've got an expensive issue to resolve before I do.

Any thoughts on what might cause this ?

I good MANUAL cleaning should help.

I've just done a 20 hours head soak, crimped the drains tubes, filled the capping stations with cleaning fluid, left her soak for 20 hours then pulled some ink through each head with a syringe on each drain line. Plenty of resistence on all four lines so no air leaks and the capping stations have all been replaced.

Also cleaned the wipers and around the sides of the print heads, didnt go near the head surface.

My local tech who specialises in Roland & Mutoh equipment told me that dabbing a well moistened cleaning swap on the surface of the heads will not hurt them despite what the books all tell you. (shock horror, I can see the comment coming now.) said he's been doing it for year and hasnt wrecked a head yet.

Is there something else that I should try by way of manual cleaning perhaps ?

That is A LOT more info. I have no suggestions, sorry.

I must admit though, I have swabbed(w/o movement) a magenta head probably 20 times before without damaging the head.
