This piece is called 'The Magic Lamp', it was made from 741 cut-vinyl pieces in twenty-four colours. Everything is cut-vinyl. The inspiration for the piece was the theatrical posters from the turn of the century. Points of interest include the lamps shadow that dips in and out of the floorboards, the use of five layers of red within the title to give a graduated effect, the use of white starbursts as highlights plus the swirling Gold metallic look of the lamp itself. As with all 'Exhibition Grade' signs - this piece was designed by me, created from hand drawn original elements and then compiled direct to screen using just a mouse.
