  1. Need Help Roland color inconsistency issue - help please

Double check your file. I get best results using photoshop RGB files. Adjust as necessary to get your target color. You may find a hidden element in your file that is difficult to see on your monitor. The printer only prints what it's told. Good luck!
  2. Need Help Can't get accurate colors (grays) with Versaworks Roland 545EX

I assume you achieve acceptable grays on other media? Use your ‘profile’ to optimize ink load and color gamut to get close to your target. Single color reproduction issues can be changed in your source application like Photoshop. The limitation of 1-black plus CMY Lc Lm build will always be a...
  3. Would your shop take this wrap job?

So price the customer on what you do best...the wrap. Then communicate to him the vision he has is 'complicated' and in order for you to produce the wrap it's up to the customer to provide art. Simple easy peasy. Wrap and Art are two different commodities that have separate values. Just be...
  4. New machine arriving Tuesday. Need to know which ink configuration I want. Help!

Congratulations on your new printer! Last year was my transition year to upgrade printers from Roland FJ600 and SC545EX to Roland XR640 (CMYKLcLmLk+silver) and an Epson 9900. I think you will notice much cleaner output on the new machine meaning colors are closer to your design files and dot...
  5. Looking for Someone that Can Do Large Scans

Good advice! I use a nikon 7100 which creates a 24megapixel file, around 60mb and is VERY sharp. I've gone through evolutions of flatbed and drum scanners and have replaced them with the nikon/cannon, etc. If you go this route be sure to get a good macro lens. Around $1200 for a package, this...
  6. Looking for Fluorescent to LED retrofit bulbs

Usable light appears brighter. I don't have a way to measure the ambient light other than my own perception. I couldn't afford to replace all the T8 gas bulbs with LED in my shop first round so I have had side by side comparison. The LEDs are much brighter on the work areas. Hopefully they're...
  7. Looking for Fluorescent to LED retrofit bulbs

I use these guys: Eastern Electronics, Gary Anderson, 919-906-2675. I just ordered enough T8 LED conversion lights to finish my shop. They are much brighter than the gas bulbs. I ordered clear, 4100K.
  8. Problem Printing on Glossy Vinyl (Spotting/Orange Peel)

I think you may be seeing the dither pattern under magnification? I sort of see the same thing on glossy media but live with it as the option is to go with a color management system including a RIP other than VW. I find the quality acceptable. Attached are a couple of photos of a recent job on...
  9. Floor graphics questions

I have both types of aluminum foil, grip for floors and smooth for everything else. I'm quoting $16-$20/sqft. Installations on brick, block and concrete have gone well and look great. I recommend trying it.
  10. Vendor that can print on DPF 8000 or similar material

I've been having good success with a metal foil media applied with just roller pressure to conform to brick or other masonry, even concrete and asphalt. The he attached pic shows a floor graphic on coated concrete. No special prep other than brushing off loose particles.
  11. Roland OEM Pigmented inks

I retired my old FJ600 and have no need for the inks as I went with the XR640. I had purchased complete sets and have 15 total: 1-Cyan and 2 each of M,Y,K,Lc,Lm,O,G, 220ml sealed packaging. These were all purchased in 2013 at or near full list ($112 each)from authorized resellers. I'm open...
