  1. Decal shrinking when applied to PVC pipe

The scratches on the decal are actually printed there. So you guys are saying I should use cast vinyl but not wrap vinyl? For some reason, I have always thought the two were synonymous.
  2. Decal shrinking when applied to PVC pipe

Would I be better off suggesting vehicle wrap and lam instead? It's also possible that he painted the PVC pipe too soon before applying, isn't it?
  3. Decal shrinking when applied to PVC pipe

I printed some decals on MacTac ImaGin vinyl, laminated them with MacTac ColorGard lam and contour cut them into ellipses. My customer then applied them to sections of PVC pipe that look to have been painted flat black (the pipe looks almost textured). He brought one back to me today on which...
  4. Three Sided POP display

I need to figure out a way to create foam core POP displays that consist of three 2'x6' panels joining together to form a triangle that stands up on its own. The trick is that it needs to ship flat with an easy set-up by the store manager. We thought about laying the panels out flat and taping...
  5. How can this happen?

Not reflective and there's no light inside the box. The metal box was their old sign, and we bolted the sintra panels on top of the two faces of that old sign. That way, they could still hang it from their existing frame. Maybe styrene or poly metal would have been a better choice?
  6. How can this happen?

The sign hangs about 15 feet in the air next to the street. I wouldn't say that the materials are cheap, really, Mosh. Do you WORK for 3M or something? I've printed thousands of signs with the same vinyl and lam as this sign, and this has never happened before. It looks like burn damage, but...
  7. How can this happen?

It certainly looks like fire damage, but the sign face is smooth to the touch. The black stuff doesn't flake off or anything. Plus, a fire close enough to do that kind of damage would have effected the other side as well. The customer sent me a photo of it a couple weeks ago, and it wasn't quite...
  8. How can this happen?

MacTac IMAGin B-free Gruv vinyl and MacTac ColorGard laminate.
  9. How can this happen?

We printed two 3x6 outdoor sign faces last year with MacTac vinyl and laminate and mounted them to Sintra. The side of the sign that faces east blackened like crazy, and the west facing side still looks OK. The link is to a side by side comparison of east and west. Any ideas what could have...
  10. Nissan Leaf Wrap - need feedback

So, the customer said they want something more "aggressive", whatever that means. I guess I'll tacky it up a little bit. Maybe some blue lightning or a skull hidden in the leaf image.
  11. Nissan Leaf Wrap - need feedback

No problem, Colorado. Thanks for the warning about the vultures at 3M. This is a new client of ours, so that is more than a little troubling.
  12. Nissan Leaf Wrap - need feedback

Well, I didn't photograph the leaf or anything, but I did find a leaf image and power cord image in istock that could be made to fit what was in my sketch. If you prefer, I could say that I conceptualized the image, but I don't see the difference. Apple sourced all the components for the...
  13. Nissan Leaf Wrap - need feedback

    I did, and thanks!
  14. Nissan Leaf Wrap - need feedback

Thanks for the kind words. I am trying to avoid wrapping the bumper, ucmj, or I would definitely make the blue gradient consistent around the back of the car. The dealers want to emphasize the zero emission aspect more than they want to advertise their location. The drivers of these Leafs will...
  15. Nissan Leaf Wrap - need feedback

This will be a template for five local Nissan dealerships' courtesy vehicles. I am trying to show them the merits of not over-designing a vehicle wrap and that you don't have to plaster every square inch with graphics just because you can. What do you guys think of the design? -JF
