  1. Dusted Crystal vs Avery Etch

I'd have thought someone would have had the opposite experience - Dusted Crystal has a synthetic liner, that stuff slews through plotters like a dream. Avery EtchMark is one of the most frustrating materials - it cuts beautifully, but the SECOND your shop goes above 15% humidity, that stuff...
  2. Wax Paper Backing

If Avery keeps cutting corners on the SuperCast liner, that product will easily reach the thickness you're looking for!:p
  3. Tunneling issues after cutting 22kt Gold.

Sometimes I wonder why that product even exists given the tunneling. They've literally sold something for 30 years and never once improved it in the slightest.
  4. Anyone have 3M 3645 floor laminate?

Can 3645 8mil film be cut on a plotter?
  5. VFW Logo

Were you ever able to actually find it? We have a VFW sign we're trying to do and I'm finding it hilariously difficult to find something passable.
  6. Gerber scientific stop manufacturing machines..real or not?

The GS/HS-15 plotters and the Edge were bulletproof, functional industrial tools that perfectly suited the markets they were designed to service. The engineers and R&D people responsible were all top notch. Gerber started circling the drain when, after the passing of Joe Gerber, management...
  7. Need Help Returning to origin

There's . . .a . . . home . . . function? I mean, I've seen it - not once did I ever have the curiosity to actually use it. I can't wait to try it now! No more pre-tracking some 24' job and then holding the arrow keys for 2 minutes like a moron? :p
  8. 3M Lamination releasing from Latex Printed vinyl. Please Help

This is the first time I'm hearing about the existence of anti-scratch latex ink. If that was the cause, wouldn't we see rampant IJ180/8020 fails? I've never seen anything like the OP's issue before.
  9. Avery Supercast - Comparable films suggestions - I just can't with this stuff anymore

We use IJ40 and IJ180 for 90% of our stuff, but someone here has a rule that window graphics must be white on the back. So when there's a job that requires those rules, I have to load the Avery and watch it buckle and warp and prey there isn't a head strike.
  10. Avery Supercast - Comparable films suggestions - I just can't with this stuff anymore

The white adhesive stipulation comes from a rigid and OCD supervisor who insists that all window graphics have to be white on the back. Over the years, Avery has fiddled with the liner paper on supercast and it is unworkable. The stuff buckles within 60 seconds of coming off the roll - and...
  11. Avery Supercast - Comparable films suggestions - I just can't with this stuff anymore

I have had it with with this stuff. Sick of the buckling liner in the plotter, sick of the buckling liner causing headstrikes and ink smears. So the question is, what do the gurus use as a latex ink receptive, 2 mil, white film with a white (not grey) adhesive layer?
  12. Proposed Ban On Chlorinated Pigments In Ink...Any Thoughts On This?

It's no easy thing convincing people that corporations do not care about anything but the bottom line. Not saying they're necessarily evil, they're just committed to cash. All of their decisions are for reasons, rarely altruism or even virtue signaling.
  13. Need Help Issues with Gerber Edge 2 and Windows 10

Haven't touched an Edge 2 in about 7 years, but I seem to remember some strange setup issue with an ECP Parallel Port being required in the old days. It wouldn't work on any of the old PCs because they didn't have one. Have they made the Edge 2 USB compatible since then?
  14. New Omega 8.0

I think a lot of people hate on Omega because they start off on 6.0 or 7.0 and have no idea that this was sign-specific software with components and tool names that have their root in Graphix Advantage from the 90s. OG sign people know what's up. It's not like Corel and Adobe don't have tons...
  15. Avery 2050 Matte Perm. Translucent Shenanigans On HP Latex 560

Weird - ours definitely was horizontal across the width of the roll, more or less 24'' apart. But if you turned the light on as it printed, you could see that those lines weren't from the ink passes, it was already there and not receptive to the ink. The ink would be everywhere but on the...
