  1. Software to view vector files

I'm not familiar with Vectorworks. But reading through some of the knowledge base articles the application appears to be primarily designed for viewing certain 3D modeling files. It shows support for viewing EPS and PDF files, but details are not very clear on that. It does not appear to support...

My profile is now saying I'm a "new member." How can I be a new member when I've been participating here since 2005? I think an admin messed up something.
  3. Software to view vector files

Currently there is no really good one-stop solution for browsing graphics files, particularly vector-based graphic files. I use Adobe Bridge to visually preview Adobe Illustrator AI, EPS and PDF files. I installed CorelDRAW with the thumbnails extension so CDR-based content will show up...
  4. fountain fill in one point

You could try using a cone-shaped gradient. That's actually something unique to CorelDRAW and not found in Adobe Illustrator. Just be careful how the gradient is output/exported.
  5. the dreaded double cut

Astute Graphics' Vector First Aid plugin for Adobe Illustrator is pretty good at spotting (and eliminating) duplicate paths. Often it's a side effect of imported PDF artwork. Duplicate paths and other paths that have no fill or stroke are common in that scenario.
  6. Font ID Request - Script

I've seen this script before (and even used it, I think) but I can't jog my brain well enough to remember the typeface. Any help is appreciated.
  7. What tha font?

Impress was used on the hours. "No Smoking" looks like Frutiger. "Pappy's" is Goudy Old Style. "Burgers Sandwiches Salads" looks like Souvenir.
  8. Font ID Needed - Mono Weight Typeface

Anyone have any ideas of the typeface ID for the attached sample? Dafont has a jillion pages of sci fi fonts. Thanks in advance for any help.
  9. Font Help Please

At first glance I thought it was Lucida Bright or Linotype Linoletter. But neither of those is right. I know I've seen it before but it's not coming to me yet.
  10. Font ID Help Needed

Thanks Fred. I looked at Exo 2, but failed to select the original Exo. I even have the commercial version of Exo Slab Pro. Yeah I feel dense now.
  11. New windows update causes problems with fonts

Bumping this thread again for Fall 2021 on the occasion of Microsoft rolling out Windows 11. While I've heard some decent things about the Windows 11 update I'm wondering what Windows 11 could take away from PC users. In the context of this thread I'm wondering about fonts, specifically OS...
  12. Font ID Help Needed

Ok, this one is kind of driving me nuts. I swear I've seen the typeface used in the attached sample somewhere at a free fonts site like Google Fonts or Font Squirrel. I just can't seem to remember the typeface name. TIA for any help!
  13. Need more Fonts

I'll second the recommendation of shopping at the MyFonts web site, as well as other legit commercial fonts sales sites (fonts.com, fontshop, letterhead fonts, etc). I check the MyFonts site at least a couple or so times per week to see what is newly released, new fonts that are selling best and...
  14. Who remembers the Gerber 4b?

Not only could the newer plotters cut faster, they could cut smaller details too without chewing up the vinyl. I remember around the end of 1993 I made a vector re-creation of the "Jurassic Park" movie logo and cut it out of vinyl. It took what seemed like at least several minutes for the 4B cut...
  15. Who remembers the Gerber 4b?

We had a Gerber SignMaker 4B and a larger Gerber plotter 20 some-odd years ago when I first started at my work place. My memory is pretty foggy on this, but we had the 4B connected to a Windows PC by a kind of "bridge" device. I think it connected to the PC via a Serial port, but I think it was...
  16. Need ID help with script typeface

Thanks. I ended up re-creating the lettering by hand since the type had been heavily altered. It was easier to just re-do it rather than trying to arc, twist and stretch various letters into shape.
  17. Need ID help with script typeface

Like the subject says, I need a little help with the typeface ID of the attached script sample. It looks familiar; I've seen that "s" before. I just can't place it. TIA.
  18. Algerian font

If you have an older version of CorelDRAW the typeface should be available in the fonts folder. Algerian is apparently not included with the current version of CorelDRAW.
  19. People never cease to amaze me with their sneaky ways...

Sign companies can and do get in trouble for knowingly violating copyright or trademark rules on behalf of ignorant or unethical clients. But it's usually the businesses ripping off the artwork that get in the most trouble. And then there is the matter of $hi++ing in your own back yard when...
  20. Help with Font

It's just Helvetica Extra Bold Condensed with some stencil effects knocked through the lettering. The smaller Honda lettering looks like another normal width weigh of Helvetica getting the same treatment.
