I usually stay away from home depot or Lowe's plywood. When laser cutting we found it to be very inconsistent in the adhesive in the wood. I buy my wood from lumber company's that I have available locally. I personally would stay with the one shot. The paint from Home depot should work. (I...
What I have done for the printed is used a pre satin wood conditioner and everything comes out great. I have used the one shot enamel paint as an underbase. Just have to make sure the paint is really dry before printing.
The biggest gain I found was the type kit. The image trace is a little better and just get the updates. I have one computer on cs6 and one with cc. The biggest benefit for me was having it available in multiple computers in the shop to make a small change in the file.
We have the Mutoh 1638uh. It was a very temperamental piece of equipment when we first got it and took about 9 months of working with Axiom and Mutoh to to get it running correctly. Once it got fixed and dial in with profiles it prints great. I would definitely no buy another hybrid printer...
I have used a diaplo blade on a table saw or panel saw. Just had to go slow. You can try and find an engraving shop and have them laser cut it. In a pinch I have used a utility knife and created a deep score and got it to break down the score. (Not always consistent.)
I laser cut it now.
When I don't print them in house I use
4over for not anything crucial on color or consistency.
lowest price print for better color consistency
silk cards for special or exact color match cards
What has worked for me is trying to find how far I can push the capabilities of items I can produce and show them off as samples to all the customers and people I know. I have a couple customers that business networking groups have done great for them.
I have used Formax Printing great to deal with. I have used Pinder at lowest price. Let them know that Sindex printing referred you over.

I had space restrictions also and we went with a Mutoh 1638uh hybrid printer. It took a lot of effort to get it printing correctly. Once we got it dialed in the print quality if very good. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about it.
Color matching is almost an art. It has taken me year and countless amount of mistakes.
A couple things is your lighting will change the way the color looks, printing in cmyk file or rgb, and using color profiles. I always try and ask the customer what PMS color I'm trying to match to (at least...
I almost never turn down jobs (I have fired a couple customers). When I get the requests for jobs that the customer needs ASAP if not sooner I have some amazing people and other shops that I work with that will take on overflow and rush jobs. I have even found a couple of these people that will...
