  1. Converting Outlines to Object

Test this macro. Make sure you have everything saved first. I ran this with a few objects selected and it was fine but on 1000 objects it crashed on me. Sub ConvertAllShapesToObject() Dim s As Shape, sr As ShapeRange ActiveDocument.BeginCommandGroup "ConvertAllShapesToObject"...
  2. Converting Outlines to Object

Here's where scale to object becomes problematic. Draw a rectangle with a "fat" outline and with scale to object on, now stretch or resize just the width of the rectangle. Notice how the outline doesn't stay consistent. That's why a macro was created to do a quick fix.

  5. Here's a funny layout request.

In defense of my military comrades, this came from a civilian not an active duty military person. They work for a military contractor. And the reason they provide ppt files is that is usually the only office programs they're authorized to have on their computers. Design is not their primary job...

  8. Here's a funny layout request.

Salesperson was contacted about making 2 signs. One is to be a 2-3ft square 3mm ACM & 1 4ft x 8ft 3mm ACM. Sample files were provided for verbiage. The 2x2 is a word document & the 4x8 is a pdf file. The 2x2 is pretty straight forward so no problems with the layout. The pdf for the 4x8 comes in...
  9. What am I worth?

Hmmm, beginning to realize I'm underpaid. 18yrs with this company. Trouble is we're not a large company so, yes, we have a slow season (now thru Jan) and we have a busy season (Mar-Oct). My income is also offset by my military pension. I've never brought up anything about a raise at any time...
  10. How much do you pay your Graphics Guy?

There's a whole lot more to "sign design" than most see. It's more than cut/paste typeset etc. One has to know quality of logos, difference between vector & raster. You have yo have at least some working knowledge of several different software. Illustrator/photoshop, Corel/photopaint, Flexi...
  11. Vehicle Wrap Templates

My reply will always be to not solely rely on the templates. We much prefer to survey the vehicle, take photos and various measurements. Scale the images then design right on the images. Templates don't accurately simulate body molding vs. just a slight concave area. Many manufacturers add...
  12. How much do you pay your Graphics Guy?

It's all good. I didn't think much of it. Just bored during this slow season. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth.
  13. How much do you pay your Graphics Guy?

More like $800 more a month plus not knowing how well the owner of that shop is to get along with. Or what perks are different. Maybe there's more call for weekend work. What about the rest of the staff? What about the extra wear/mileage on my vehicle? I'm only about 10 years from full...

  15. How much do you pay your Graphics Guy?

I've been a "sign designer" for years with the same sign company. I feel I'm being paid well and right on target for this area. I consider myself a "Graphic Designer" not just a sign designer. I do anything from simple yard signs, banners, tradeshow displays, logo design as well as logo re-draws...

  18. Discussion Slowing down or staying busy?

Slow season for us here. Don't foresee it picking up until mid February. Going from 8:30-5 to 8:30-4.
  19. Small shop looking for employee management advice

Our designers do, on occasion, work with customers. Sometimes it's less time consuming to interact and get the particulars from a customer rather than "too many cooks in the kitchen". But if they say "love it, how much would that be?" I'll have to turn it over to our sales staff for review. They...
