It's been awhile but I am pretty sure Oracal used to recommend 4075-RLA before they started offering their own application tape. You could always use their own brand; HT55 or MT72.
Liquor distributors are cheaper than car dealers and realtors. Your lucky they were masked. I have done several rear doors during the Florida summer on 3M 180c with liquid lam and no mask. Thank god they were mostly white, just peal as you go...
Yep you have to use special mask for Orafol products. They make it stick to the liner so it weeds like a dream. Thats why the production houses love it. Then it slows the installer way down if they use cheep mask. Not a fan of the vinyl for many reasons, that's just one.
Used a lot of Hartco 425. Make sure you get the versions with paper liner if you want to plotter cut it. The plastic liner allows it to stretch and warp, in other words it doesn't seem to cut well on a plotter. If you're sandblasting sign foam get the highest tack and blow off the dust first for...
I am fully aware of xylene's properties and use chemical resistant gloves and only in a well ventilated area. I thought I heard it can cause nerve damage as well...
Xylene and/or Rapid Remover here as well. It all depends on the size of the job, what i have on hand, and if the space is well ventilated... If I am installing graphics after removal I typically use a 3 step method to make sure there isn't any residue left and it varies. Xylene/Xylol and Rapid...
Working upside down is a pain and you will be a lot less productive. Butt seaming on a painted surface will be difficult and time consuming as well because you won't be able to pull out the bottom piece without damaging the paint unless you have tape under the seam. I would do a test with...
Who cares. First of all I learned this from some of the best 3M preferred installers in the country. Second, It's about getting the job done properly. The heat is the key factor because the textured surface laminate is like the vac-form material. When you get it to the proper temperature it gets...
We're looking a an image on the internet so it's hard to second guess this. Either way you can't match the crap on the window so you have to take a picture, then remove all the graphics and install a completely new one...
If there isn't a film over the entire window, then the graphic has...
Looks to me like the original lettering was white printed on clear and cut to shape bigger than the print, then someone came along an put window tint/film over the entire window.
As others have said they will have to remove the tint/window film from the entire window then remove all the old...
No, I am not kidding. The process is all about the heat not pressure. The 3M, Big Easy and RollePro rollers are too firm so you have to press hard to get in the deeper grooves. the foam paint rollers are soft and require less pressure to get into the recesses.
You can think whatever you want, I...
typically your rip should limit the total amount of solvent ink. Vinyl manufactures want that limited to around 280%. By the way you can reach a good solid black as low as 190% - C60 M30 Y00 K100.
I used to be a fan of the x-acto with the #11 blade so much so that I had one of those on me at all times for detailed cuts and a typical olfa with the retractable blad for all the straight simple stuff. So much so that it took me years to get used to the new 30 degree blades. Now I love the...
Just because the reps push calendared material and it says it last 5 years doesn't mean it is the appropriate material for the job. This has always been a pet pev of mine and years ago a friend and I did the research on cast versus calendared cut vinyl graphics. When we did the math you saved on...
I'm pretty sure Roland doesn't produce media, they rebrand and mark up others medias. Obviously they test the materials to make sure they work with their printers. If you call your suppliers and explain your problems, they might give you some material to test...
go on 3M's web site to find the # you want, If I remember right the first 2 numbers are the tape type and the last 2 have to do with the thickness. Then, use amazon. Along time ago we used to use R.S Hughs for the cheapest prices.
I have snapped enough tapcons off in brick that I wouldn't mind having that scan to torque feature. Part of the reason I stopped using the longer thin tapcons.
