  1. Powder Coating

Honestly Powder Coating is not that tough. You need a blasting cabinet, an oven, and a place to spray. Takes a little practice but I built some "at home" style stuff and produced some nice products. If you can paint, powder coating will seem like cake walk. Decide how big you want to go, and the...
  2. Dan inspired design

Naw man, don't get stressed, just start over. Happens to every designer everywhere...they have this vision but can't seem to make it work on paper/computer. Sometimes you have to start over. Sometimes you have to start over 10 times. Doesn't mean you suck, just all part of the game. You know?
  3. Dan inspired design

Sorry man that's not working too well. Definitely not anything like Dan's work. Start from scratch would be my suggestion. No offense bro, just what I would do from here. The yellow striple looks unnatural, the peppers looked slapped on, the logo is very weak, and if you want to go Dan A...
  4. The wall from hell. Save me

Um...180 isn't that tacky at all. And plus I try not to use 3M products, haven't for almost 3 years now and now more than ever. Laid down some Kilz today, will get you guys pics once everythings painted and wrapped :thumb:
  5. 3M IJ180V3 material problems

Agreed. Had adhesive issues with several of their materials. Wish I could've billed them for the thousands I lost there. Too bad too, it applied nice.
  6. The wall from hell. Save me

Precisely what I'll be doing today! :rock-n-roll:
  7. The wall from hell. Save me

Meh yeah well only a small part of the entire room. I'm going to see how my spray primer/adhesion promoter works. If not, guess time for a few gallons of Kilz. Man it never hit me that it might actually be oil based but after inspecting it again I'm sure it is. Atleast I know my problem now...
  8. The wall from hell. Save me

Only painted a 3' x 4' part of the wall in latex. I stopped when I noticed it just was NOT working. So not exactly screwed. So sounds like it's primer time eh?
  9. Why I didnt make it to sgia...

    Right on dude. Congrats!
  10. The wall from hell. Save me

Going to do some tests in the morning with an area I put some primer down, and an area where I put some Bulldog adhesion promoter down.
  11. The wall from hell. Save me

I no longer have plans to paint it. I just need my wrap to adhere so forget I even mentioned painting lol. Although that would make sense if I tried putting latex over oil based!!!
  12. The wall from hell. Save me

No it's been around for atleast 15 years. 2 concrete walls, 2 drywall walls. Both textured, paint doesn't really doesn't look awfully old, just some coffee stains and crud. Gloss or semi gloss finish. Sealed showroom, not garage space or anything. Room was around 60 degrees, but it's been 50...
  13. The wall from hell. Save me

No prep. Gone latex over latex countless times and never had an issue. Figured black over white would be fine, so no primer. nopeeee not this time.
  14. The wall from hell. Save me

Pretty committed to wrapping now, since I bought a full roll of a material I'll otherwise never use. So what do you think I could apply over to help adhesion? or possibly just need to heat to high heavens?
  15. The wall from hell. Save me

Alright, I'm losing it here. lol. I have a new shop, that I'm trying to get setup to move in. First though, the bland stained white walls, need something. So, I went out and got 2 colors of latex paint, went to town...but the weirdest thing, the paint didn't seem to like to adhere. It was like...
  16. way to high?

Wait gold leaf...explain here. Are you applying TRUE gold leaf? If so, crank that price wayyyy up. Or are you referring to SignGold, or..? And seriously 3651 will be fine. The ink will fade before that 3951 will have issues. The gold is the key factor here that could make or break where you...
  17. way to high?

Lil high buddy. I'd have to see a visual to say for sure...but yah seems high. And why the **** you using premium wrap material and laminate for window lettering? They'll probably go out of business before those decals peel. Heck it'll fade first. A wee overkill IMO.
  18. Getting new space organized

Business has been up and down, but reason for the move is new landlord so had to scoot quick. Found a nice place I can get setup in, just a lil small.
  19. PrismJet Extra, good, bad, info?

It had a lot more problems than the new Valuejets, but wasn't too hard to work on. The pumps are notorious for eating up the lines, so may need to get their new upgraded lines for around the capping station. It's a pretty slow printer but for that price, if you maintain it, should definitely...
  20. Getting new space organized

Looks like your work table is a wee low there dude! :p Not bad though, like that substrate shelf. I'm moving in 2 weeks to a smaller shop. Going to be pretty interesting...
