  1. Corel X5 contour problem

Extremely sharp angles or points will auto square off to avoid having points that are several feet off in whatever direction. As you mentioned pre-filleting you shapes before you add a contour should do the trick. If every corner is squared off like that (or round/filleted when you don't want...
  2. Corel X5 contour problem

I'm pretty sure X5 doesn't have that feature, that was new to x6 if I remember right. The way you would handle that in the past is to pre-filllet you shapes before you add the contour.
  3. Painted Billboard

We did do a time lapse for a Walldog mural we did last summer. I wish it were zoomed in to the mural, but it is kind of cool watching the job site move around. You'll have to view it on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=617915561563166
  4. Painted Billboard

Crap. I hoped no one would notice. We ran out of the one red half way through, and we aren't very good at mixing colors... so we thought... ah that's probably close enough. j/k It was my attempt at making it look somewhat dimensional where the red portion was slightly bent back at the...
  5. What computer do you run Corel on

We have various Dells and a custom built machine here at work running CorelDRAW with rarely any issues. I've bogged it down by having 18 different files open and too much going on. I do that all the time, but I know that's computer related because when I upgrade to a more powerful computer I...
  6. CorelDraw X7

Yeah I know when I'm thinking about a good quality meal, MAC and CHEESE is the first thing that comes to mind. So yeah perhaps your analogy is right. Clearly you haven't used the same program we've had so much great luck with. You're probably just another one of the many folks...
  7. Painted Billboard

Here's one we just wrapped up. Nova Color on .080 aluminum. It still has to be installed yet.
  8. How do I get the average Joe to understand about high quality artwork?!!!!!

Average Joe??? hey!!! What's the deal? I think like anything, it takes practice to get good at talking to customers about this stuff. I'm not perfect at talking with customers, but I do know that I get better at it every day. It also helps to have a few visual aids at your disposal. We...
  9. Why should I sponsor you.....

:goodpost: :goodpost: [FONT=Verdana]You mean you are surprised that the guy who wants you to do free or discounted work at your expense for his benefit isn't really your best buddy and only has you in mind when he wants something from you? I don't believe that for one second.:Big...
  10. Before and After Van lettering

    Huge improvement! :thumb:
  11. CorelDraw X7

Elliptical gradients, believe it or not, is a big one for me. The entire fill tool set has been reworked and has some nice new features. Also the new "smooth tool" is going to be real nice to have for the illustration work I do. Here is a video demonstrating that...
  12. Throwback Thursday: Post your logo over the years.

How has your logo/brand/image changed over the years? This was one of the first signs, when the business was painting and decorating. The paint on this one is still holding up well after all these years. It's inside the shop now: This is the logo over the years. Most of these were taking...
  13. Do you care if your suppliers become your competitors?

I'm not too worried about it if they do. I doubt they would run us out of business. That being said, I'm not going to continue doing business with them if they decide to compete.
  14. Help: where is the cheapest place to buy sign vinyl?

I've never heard of "high gloss vinyl paper". Is that new? Are you looking for high performance vinyl? calendered vinyl? glossy paper?

  16. Calling all Design Police............................................

The judge wouldn't likely ask that. In your scenario, the burden of proof would be on the redneck who would need to prove that he actually bought a logo from you and didn't simply hire you to build a sign. The problem with your point of view on this topic is that IF that redneck somehow did...
  17. Throwback Thursday: post your first set of wheels.

Can't say I miss my first car LOL. But I do wish I could have kept the car I had before the one I own now. It was an 07 mustang. My first new car purchase. Nothing amazing really, but If I still had it I would mad max it up. Make it look like it belongs in the steampunk apocalypse, kind of...
  18. Throwback Thursday: post your first set of wheels.

Just a little afternoon fun... post your first car or truck and tell us a little about her (or him). Throughout high school I always drove the company truck. My parents weren't the type to buy me or my brothers cars when we turned 16. I was luckey I had anything to drive. However you couldn't...
  19. Calling all Design Police............................................

Not really so. The owner of the artwork would be the designer until the designer specifically sells the design to the client. If we are talking about a "leg to stand on" in court, the client would need to prove that they bought the design to be used outside of the scope of the project they...
