Most of the plywood comes from Canada...or at least BC. I think we're getting screwed on Aluminum. We're just getting screwed less right now than we would be next month when we placed another order. I'm not keeping a 6 month supply or anything.... Currently sitting at 2, and thinking of going...
  2. New HP Latex 700 and 800 series - with White ink

We caved and got a 700w. 3m is giving us 20k over 4 years in rebates so the machine is a no brainer... Pretty much free at that price. It's not getting installed until this week. Were going to run it side by side with our 560 for awhile and make sure we don't get inconsistent panels, banding...
  3. Signs 365

Have you guys actually seen lumber drop in price? Were still buying it by the sheet because the price is way too high. We use G2S plywood a lot, used to pay $45 a sheet... Right now it's at $65 if we buy by the skid. (checked last Thursday... Unless it crashed since then) Even if it crashes...
  4. Signs 365

Just out of curiosity I E-mailed the 3 suppliers we buy aluminum from asking what the price on their inbound shipment will be. $167 per sheet... But theres 2 skids at the old $142 pricing left. so I can buy 150 sheets right now for $21,300... or in December those same 2 skids will cost me...
  5. Signs 365

Our inventory has doubled. But we have the warehouse space to do it in and not have it be a problem. Our yearly inventory is going to be fun... We're sitting on 3 skids of aluminum, 2 skids of coro, 2 skids of polyplate... a full skid of Alupanel, 2 rolls of our not so used vinyl, like 5-10...
  6. 3m Window perforated vinyl

Have you guys ever removed unlaminated perf, or do your customers do it? We have 6 huge windows to put up and it's indoors, so I figured I'd go unlaminated for once... They wanted to see a small 2 ft by 2 ft sample of it before we did them all, so I went down and put it up. Just pulling off...
  7. Employee Poaching

So you run an ad in the paper looking for someone to do a job, and you're expecting to pay $30 an hour. You get two equally qualified candidates... But ones wage expectation is $25 an hour because he's been looking for work and desperate, and the others is $30 an hour. Are you an asshole...
  8. auto takeup reel not working on Epson s80600

The take up is plugged into the back of the printer underneath a cover.one day our printed freaked out and didn't he substrate calibration wrong.... We came back after lunch to 10-20 ft of media unrolled on the floor, and the take up reel not working. We took it apart... And the plug is not...
  9. Plotter printer for wall murals?

#1... He's asking about a inkjet printer, not a solvent. Inkjet printers are not water proof. They're no good for wall coverings.... They're also no in resistant, so even if you overlaminate them they'd still fade if any sun is on them. You need a latex or a solvent. I suggest a latex 115...
  10. Graphtec 8600 with Onyx Cut Server 12.2 Alignment issues

If you print with barcodes on... The end of the barcode will have a f and a b. F stands for front... B for back. I used onyx cut server for years and never knew that and always played the "this looks right" game.... Until one day I had nothing to do so I was reading the onyx manual...
  11. PUSH ROLLER REPLACEMENT

They are no longer manufactured. I looked everywhere for one for my 8600 and couldn't find one... I had to find an old 8000 and scavange the pinch roller from it. I had emails out to every shop that deals with graphtecs.. even mentioned if they had a salvaged graphtec I'd take a used one from...
  12. primer94

Depending on how much of it there is, if you throw some glue remover on a paper towel and tape some plastic over it so it doesnt evaporate....within 10 minutes you can just wipe it all off.
  13. New Graphtec 9000 Not Ready to go Out of the Box!

Are you talking about adjusting the sensor level? yes... I've done it a half dozen times. It should be pretty accurate out of the box and not need adjusting though. Ignore the instructions... This is for the 8600 but pretty much the same thing.
  14. New Graphtec 9000 Not Ready to go Out of the Box!

They come with instructions do they not? I setup my graphtec (8600) then I setup my work graphtec (9000) it's super easy. The 9000 is a bit more tricky with the new media catcher... I ended up installing them in reverse and spending 15 minutes removing and putting them back on.. but it's simple...
  15. Need Help Die-cutting labels and stickers

I perf cut 99% of my stuff. The tension 9n the graphtec isn't strong enough to knock the perf cuts out.... So I'll load a roll, kiss cut it in one direction... Reverse it and perf cut it in the other (so I don't have to swap blades... Some people kiss cut in the channel so they can do it all at...
  16. Need Help Die-cutting labels and stickers

eBay has them Amazon has them... They're everywhere. I don't recommend them for kiss cutting... They may do fine but the Quality control on them sn't the best, so you might get a blade with a Nick or slight defect that doesn't cut 100% perfectly. For perf cutting it doesn't matter.... For kiss...
  17. Need Help Die-cutting labels and stickers

The fc9000 The fc9000 has an option to do a reverse mark. So it'll print a black square and leave the registration blank...so it can read on glitter / reflective perfectly. I use it for reflective all the time, I did it on holo once or twice and it worked good. I don't know if there's a way...
  18. Need Help Die-cutting labels and stickers

So what I did was message this guy - https://www.ebay.ca/itm/222123746128 I asked for a discount on 10 packs of 15 blades... And I ended up paying $100usd for 150 60 degree blades and fast 5 day shipping. I too have a handful of blade holders and blades I'll never use... Having4-5 blade...
  19. Is there any one man shop making around 500k$ in annual sayles

With so many wholesalers the broker method works better than a brick and mortar store. I work with a broker and she does about 60k through me every year... Out of my garage. About 45-50 of that is Proffitt for me after materials and machine wear and tear (I'm not counting time or electricity...
  20. Is there any one man shop making around 500k$ in annual sayles

Another thing to consider before adding an employee... are you busy ALL the time? we don't make a profit in Nov-Dec-Jan, and actually lose money. The employees we need from feb-Oct kind of kill our nov-jan profits, especially being in the sign/wrap business when not much happens in...
