We did $600k in sales in March, but that's new sales that won't convert to revenue until May.
The only reason the numbers matter, at all, is that five years ago I asked if I could build my business to be self-sustaining so I could take a month long vacation and it would continue to grow.
And...
I didn't say $2.7M, you did.
Why do you care so much about how much money I make? Do you want screenshots of my bank account as well? How about my home address?
I didn't come here to brag about my money - you guys took the conversation there.
I said 5 years ago when I started this thread...
I never bragged about how much money I make - that isn't my goal in business...I have no desire to be the richest guy in the business.
My goal was to build a business that runs itself (and makes enough for me to live comfortably while being able to spend my time raising my kids and being a...
I must be sorry, otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my time here talking to you.
All these years later, you're just as unhappy as I remembered you being.
There's a reason why you were the one name I remembered on here for how unhappy you were.
I've been stuck in Atlanta all day trying to get...
You could have figured out our revenue long ago - I shared our exact sales and revenue numbers in Q1. Hint: Multiply quarterly numbers by 4 and you'd have a good idea of where we'd be for the year.
We did 14% net last year and currently are at 22% net for this year, but I think 18-20% is more...
If you're doing $3-3.5M/year in revenue with just yourself while working 40 hours/week (and without relying on a bunch of contractors), that's truly impressive. I wouldn't have any idea how to pull off numbers like that in this industry.
My goal is to do $250-300k/year in revenue per person...
No, we don't do billboards... From what I can tell billboards are an industry of their own and not one we've chosen to pursue.
We have two bucket trucks and installers to keep them on the road every day.
We aren't a huge company, we will do $3-3.5M in revenue this year.
We have grown...
No, we outsource those as well.
In-house we do roll-to-roll printing (and what goes with that).
Every time I've run the numbers to bring those in-house, we don't do enough volume for it to make sense to purchase the equipment + hire somebody to run them.
Eventually I'll buy a company that...
The coaches I worked with own some of the largest companies in our industry, but they're in a position where they don't have to be tied to the business any longer so when I approached them and offered to pay them a healthy hourly rate ($250-500/hour depending on the coach), they were willing to...
We have multiple in-house designers and installers, but there are there are times where the current pipeline outpaces our in-house team but it would be irresponsible to rush out and hire more staff for a temporary surge in business... Having contractors for that is the right solution (vs falling...
The only thing we currently outsource is metal/electrical fabrication, everything else is in-house.
What I described was a backup plan for each area of the business to show the other poster that it's not a death sentence if multiple people were to leave.
They can be replaced with more expensive, short-term solutions (exactly like what I described) in a few days.
Hiring and training people for long-term solutions takes longer.
Those cows you're referencing are still in the place they are because they're content to graze. I'll take advice from...
If my GM leaves - I can jump in and do his job... When the Director of Operations before him left, that's exactly what I did for several months before I promoted him and trained him for the role. I can jump in and do sales as well.
Any other roles can be replaced with freelancers/contractors...
You may not realize it - but a couple of the things you've said to me will live long beyond this thread.
Someday when I'm sharing my testimony as a Christian and an entrepreneur with others, I'm going to share the screenshots of your posts as evidence of what's possible when we put our faith...
I could pay myself that extra money - but I've already said money isn't the driver for me, freedom is.
Giving up $200k/year is worth not having to deal with the stress of things.
In addition to that, while I got us from $0 to where we are today, I don't think I'm the guy to get us from where...
I already said it to somebody else, but not believing my story when it's true is by far the biggest compliment anybody could give me... Thank you.
I'm fortunate to have endured and come out on the other side without failing, and I'm extremely grateful for that.
This.
Also - I've been intentional since the beginning about nobody knowing how to do everything (i.e. my installers don't know how to do design or run the printers).
Somebody who could do everything would have helped a lot in those early days, but doing this made it less likely somebody...
I got defensive because people thought I was making things up and some of that probably carried over into other parts of this conversation. For that, I'm sorry.
I agree I'm not fully absentee - I have two 90-minute meetings with my two leaders every other week.
I also still manage the...
