  1. Need Help Issues w/ Mimaki UCJV

Thank you! So let it run the test until it stops beeping? I got some quick instructions from the tech about how to get to the test, but not so much regarding how long to let it run. I'll try it again now and will report back.
  2. Constant or use based humidification

We've got an inline humidifier in the shop and will usually just set it to around 45% - 50% and leave it at that. The only time we ever turn it off is if we're doing any critical laminating/mounting to avoid any dust flying around, and in that case we'll usually spray down the floor...
  3. Need Help Issues w/ Mimaki UCJV

I ran the tests and here are the results. Negative: P/N: - 2.88 to -2.90 P: 0.06 to 0.12 Positive: P/N: -0.07 to -0.08 P: 25.46 to 25.57 Positive (check): P/N -0.07 to -0.08 P: 16.10 to 16.22 The numbers seem to spike when you first run it then settle into normal range. (Not sure what...
  4. Need Help Issues w/ Mimaki UCJV

Thank you for this - I checked and the wiper is definitely not making contact with the heads or the rear wiper/cleaner. I thought maybe the wiper itself was the issue so I swapped it but it's still sitting too low. Is there a way to adjust the height of the wiper assembly? Looking back on my...
  5. Need Help Issues w/ Mimaki UCJV

We've been having issues with this thing for last couple of months and I'm getting close to throwing it in the dumpster. Print quality went from fine for 2 years to super inconsistent and constantly having drop out, ink starvation and contamination, banding, streaking etc. I replaced captops...
  6. Suggestions Graphics card a must for new workstations?

Thanks for the quick answers! They said they'll give me a price and if it makes sense to go that route we will. I think they said they deal with Dell so I should be able to price check pretty easily. In the past we've had a local computer place build our workstations and they've always...
  7. Suggestions Graphics card a must for new workstations?

I'm getting a new IT company to put together some pricing to upgrade some computers and our network etc and they're asking if we need a graphics card on the one computer we're replacing. Main use will be for Composer/outputting to Gerber equipment, maybe some light Corel (vector) use and...
  8. Tactile and braille sign

Is that on the Colorado or Arizona?
  9. Need Help Installing indoor signs from suspended ceilings?

Thanks for this, I like this idea. And thanks for the tip about drilling into the tiles, I definitely will use the awl trick and probably have some 50 lb test at home too!
  10. [Mimaki UCJV300-160] Which setting and profile to use when printing translucent film / sticker?

Do you have the ability to create custom profiles? You could create a new profile with increased ink limits which might possibly help. This is assuming you don't have white ink. We created a custom profile for W+CMYK that we use for clear prints on our UCJV.
  11. Need Help Installing indoor signs from suspended ceilings?

Yeah good call. I think these will be high enough that it would take a pretty tall kid to hit but you make a good point. I'd rather not have to go back and replace them. Already enough screw ups with this job, $15k worth of channel letters basically going in the garbage because proper...
  12. Doctor seems to think I have sex daily...

Wow. This thread did NOT disappoint....................... :roflmao:
  13. Need Help Installing indoor signs from suspended ceilings?

Thanks. Unfortunately in this case the grid doesn't line up well with where the sign is to be hung so I'll have do drill through the tiles. You don't think the 1x4 above the tile is overkill to hang such a small light sign? (I know you're the install expert, just curious) I was kind of...
  14. Converting Outlines to Object

I'll never understand why that is even an option - is there EVER a scenario where you wouldn't want to scale outlines when reducing/increasing the size of objects? <end rant>
  15. Need Help Installing indoor signs from suspended ceilings?

Any tips/advice on how to hang a couple of small indoor signs from suspended ceilings? The bars don't line up in a way that they would be useful (and I can't say I know what hardware I'd use even if they did). Pic attached. Need to install (2) signs like this, they're 5" x 24" x 6mm sintra...

  17. Discussion Advantages of UV to a Solvent

I'm not sure where you read that but as far as I know/am concerned no UV ink will last longer than solvent ink, unless you're talking screen printing ink.
  18. Discussion Advantages of UV to a Solvent

UV vs Solvent is a pretty wide net to throw. Main differences that come to mind are: UV ink is thicker, can sometimes result in silvering after lamination. UV ink is dry and ready to handle as soon as it comes off the printer UV ink sits on top of media where as solvent eats into the media (can...
  19. This is neat

Whoa, that's cool. Vacuum forming wrap vinyl......what will they think of next?
  20. Vinyl awning with seam in the way

Flip the awning. Slap on them stickers. Have a beer with the boozehound awning guy. Cash cheque. Move on.
