  1. Automation Software for Roland VersaWorks

Using Wasatch SoftRIP, you can make re-useable templates to speed up layout. Once you have your template set up, you can just load the template and drop your files on. They will fill up the slots in your template and automatically be laid out. This, of course, will not work in conjunction with...
  2. UV Outdoor Life

I've been hearing good things about CET's adhesion, so hopefully that bodes well for outdoor life. We don't use brand-name coroplast - our last few orders have been Inteplast UltraSmooth corrugated plastic. Supposedly it's all corona-treated and print ready, but, let's just say I'm still not...
  3. UV Outdoor Life

Just a bump for today's crowd...
  4. UV Outdoor Life

I can pull a reject that's been sitting around, and fold it a couple of times, and the ink cracks.:banghead: That's another thing we want - more flexibility. I'm not sure how much fading our coro signs do, but one customer brought back a yard sign after maybe two or three month's worth of...
  5. UV Outdoor Life

We are in the research stage of purchasing a new true flatbed printer, upgrading from an Agfa Anapurna M4f. We are using G1 inks, and the outdoor life on coroplast is less than 6 months, varying depending on the density & darkness of the print. So one of the things we are hoping to upgrade is...
  6. CNC routing 3/8" 6061 Aluminum with Kongsberg

Man, that's a hefty guard! One thing I've noticed with the Kongsberg is that it is not as rigid and powerful as a true CNC router/milling machine (which is understandable). Even at low speeds with low acceleration, corners aren't very precise. The machine cannot corner nearly as fast and...
  7. Font ID needed

    That works, thanks!
  8. Font ID needed

    GREEN DRAGON, please.
  9. How do you open a CMYK file in flexi without it converting it to RGB?

I have learned not to trust colors in Flexi. Even setting multiple objects to be the same color can be very frustrating. I already have had a solid color and a gradient ending on that same solid color (both from the same swatch) print out different colors.:banghead: Your best bet would be just...
  10. Running two instances of Flexi

I used to be able to do this with FlexiDesigner Cloud (11) with a single license, until one of the last few updates came around. This is just one of the annoying Flexi bugs/idiosyncrasies I've ran into. For the price, you'd think it would be a bit more capable than what it is.:banghead:
  11. Bad Rounded Corners on Zund M-1600cv Flatbed Cutter

Sounds like the tool isn't tangential to the line of cut. It may cut straight lines, but push material up on one side or the other. Did you run through the tool alignment procedures? Pictures may be helpful...
  12. Anyone know a company that can make contour cut fluorescent signs

Find someone with a flatbed cutter. We could do them easily on our Kongsberg.
  13. Logo design feedback

I guess it all depends on what paper is used as to how the pigments travel while drying. Good fountain pen paper will absorb ink quickly to prevent smearing. For me personally, when I think of fountain pen ink, I think of a rainbow of colors. That is my draw to a fountain pen - because of the...
  14. Logo design feedback

OK, I don't quite get what you are saying? Are you saying the shape is unrealistic? The shading? I know the shape is unrealistic - you'd be hard pressed to find an actual ink blot that just happened to be shaped like South Carolina. That's what makes this logo custom, IMHO. As far as shading...
  15. Logo design feedback

You are right, as long as the ink is wet. Once it has soaked in the paper and dried, you will have darker ink around the edges (because of the pigment migrating out) and maybe a darker spot in the center (because that will most likely be the last to dry). Different inks will have different...
  16. Logo design feedback

Thanks for catching that kerning! Here's 3 options I might present - I simplified the blot down to four colors in these versions.
  17. Logo design feedback

Latest version, taking some inspiration from Neato's designs. I cleaned up the ink blot a bit, made the tree larger, and added a small drop shadow to make it stand out a bit more.
  18. Logo design feedback

Solid palmetto tree - I like this better. It's less cluttered.
  19. Logo design feedback

So, to use Bill's example, what about all the painting companies with brushes? Anyway, the companies are not really direct competitors. My client is a one-man hobby-turned-business. He makes custom high-end fountain pens, whereas Goulet sells various mass-marketed pens/inks/papers/writing...
  20. Logo design feedback

Yeah, I'm definitely going to try a contrasting layout. That's a good idea. I would do that if I were a better calligrapher.... I will admit that is probably where the idea of an ink blot came from. However, this is a "custom" ink blot, rather than Goulet's "generic" blot. :thumb:
