  1. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

Thanks for they reply. For some reason, Mimaki aren't allowed to sell the SS21 here. (some ingredient deemed unsafe here but nowhere else...) I would rather not have a strong smell - I'm nearby in the same environment (although I do have an extraction fan). For that reason alone I'm thinking...
  2. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

I have a CJV30, and here in Australia they were available with "Eco-HS1" inks, which is sort of in between ES3 and SS21 I believe. Anyway, due to them not selling much of this ink, Mimaki have decided to discontinue it. So I'm now forced to switch inks. Most users it seems are opting for the...
  3. Mimaki CJV30-130 cutting off by 2mm

Something to be wary of with the CJV when you are doing a print & cut:- if you alter the cut (tool) pressure on the fly it will shift the cutter head slightly, resulting in the subsequent cut line being 1-2mm out. It's an annoying bug. Always adjust the tool pressure before scanning reg...
  4. Cyan and Black on the left channel stop firing during production.

It'd be something above the head, not below it. Sounds like partially clogged dampers or something restricting the flow - causing ink starvation on a long run. Being that 1 normal cleaning brought them back, the cap seal seems good. As Rooster said: check the dampers.
  5. CJV30 Cyan suddenly completely missing

Okay I ordered a new cap and have just fitted it. That was the problem! Now I see a lot of ink going through the drain tubes whereas before there was hardly any. I guess that when both cyans quit at the same time, there must have been a small air lock or something just enough to impede...
  6. CJV30 Cyan suddenly completely missing

I've attached 2 syringes to the 2 tubes between the cap an pump. I can push/pull (gently) on one of them and hear an air leak from around the cap. My guess at this stage is a bad cap seal or tubes/joins under the cap...
  7. CJV30 Cyan suddenly completely missing

Yep I did a nozzle wash and several cleanings and an ink fill when I first saw there was no cyan. Case, that's a good point about ink in the cap - there's no cyan there. Seems it's not pulling any through the head. Maybe capping station, pump or blocked head? I've removed the front...
  8. CJV30 Cyan suddenly completely missing

Hi all, as the title says my cyan has decided to not print at all out of both channels (2x CMYK). The last thing I did was print a large run with some pretty heavy blue coverage. I installed a new cart half way through no problems. It finished the run perfectly. 2 days later I go to print...
  9. SignLab File Save / Open Irritation

It's easy to overlook, but Signlab has included a handy little icon in all open/save/import windows called "Favourites". It's located top right next to View Menu. You can add all your favourite locations where you normally go to open or save your files.
  10. Thanks Insignia!

For sure, I've found Mike's (Insignia's) posts here to be among the most helpful and knowledgeable. No surprise you found him to be the same as a supplier. I'd have no hesitation using his expertise too if I was on the same continent (even though you're not!).
  11. Timeout mid print...

Have a look at the knowledge base look on Cadlinks site - might be something there. Also I've read posts where JV3 owners have had trouble with their firewire cards in the computer, where they needed to switch to a different kind to avoid communication problems/dropouts. Try searching or...
  12. Pre Fill Up carts ws Cleaning carts

Hi Bloobird, yes you can use the pre fill carts - it's the same fluid. BTW, I have the same machine and noticed that it didn't tell me when the cleaning cart was empty. So I think you need to keep an eye on it yourself.
  13. Grays are reddish

It sounds like you needed to make a global ink restriction first - or whatever they call it in your package. Max ink, density, ink limit etc... To reduce the total amount of ink laid down to suit the media better. Then, once you've done that (which won't affect the linearization curves), you...
  14. Grays are reddish

Me no like. Why did you take the axe to all the colours? You could just pull the magenta back a tad, leaving the others alone.
  15. Ink Limits

Good one Bly. It's gotta be better than the old Gretag Colorlab program I've been struggling with!
  16. color profiling lessons

Hey don't bring me into your stupid mudslinging attempts. The little bits I do know can mostly be credited to eye4clr who has for years been patiently and generously giving advice to anyone keen enough to show an interest. His knowledge is beyond reproach. You should learn to shut up and...
  17. color profiling lessons

Hi Apex, The first problem is that Signlab doesn't support CMYK images (bitmap, tiff etc). They get converted to RGB on import. This usually has a big effect on the colours straight away. Purples turn blue etc. So you need to design in RGB in Photoshop. You can assign the same sRGB...
  18. Rasterlinkers

I think it's time to remind you the purpose of this thread. It is to let people who use Rasterlink know that they can actually alter the the colour output they are getting by simply editing the print conditions. This is not immediately obvious when you look at Rasterlink. I had no idea you...
  19. Rasterlinkers

Yeah, I get that problem because I work in ARGB space and use rgb vectors for some colours, when I send a pdf to the client, it blows the greens etc.
  20. Rasterlinkers

I'm glad you pointed that out and it makes things much clearer. I guess in the end we should have both input profiles in our arsenal, using one primarily and then switching to the other when deemed necessary.
