I thought running a print server over the ethernet made the parallel connection faster.
I found it was always much faster on the print server than if it was just connected directly from the PC to the parallel cable when running the Graphtec.
As for repairing the firewire card I have been...
I have a problem with my JV3-160s.
After plugging my laptop which did not have a Texas Instrument firewire card it keeps throwing a Error 20 code.
I believe I have fried the firewire card as I have been told they are really fussy.
Question is can I run it of the parallel port using an Ethernet...
OMG OMG this happens all the time.
It is as if the customer thinks placing the raster file into PS or AI does something magical to it.
All it does is make the image even crappier!!!
I even had a customer last week who had an app on his phone (didn't know one existed!) to convert a raster into...
This has always been an issue but with the dawn of computers and the world wide web everyone thinks they have access to amazing artwork that is
usable. In my 30 years in the sign making trade this issue has got worse and is a daily occurrence.
I watched in amazement as my business partner has...

Thank you so much for the information.
I will spend a bit of time one night this week to do the necessary adjustments.
My biggest issue is the heads are sticking and not moving freely when releasing the allen screws.
I think I will remove all the heads and clean the base plates also apply...
I have managed to acquire a little Apple PowerBook G4 laptop, YES I know it is old, but it has only been used for about 8 hours in total since it was bought new.
This will sit on a little shelf attached to the right of my Mimaki JV3-160s (this is perfect as it has firewire built in and run a...
All of the print heads have been changed so their is no base point to start from or assumption that one of them is correct.
Further on yesterday with a little bit more time on it.
I have found that the slant adjustment on all 3 heads was tightened so much it physically was doing nothing as far...
Well I spent another couple of hours trying to set this machine up and with no luck.
Please help as everything is out of alignment now and probably no better than I started.
I tried to do a unit adjust but it just prints one black line and no light magenta (at least I can't see it!) as it is...
I am trying to aling my heads on my JV3-160s.
Is their a deffinitive and easy way to do this?
I am trying to align these up using the various references and manuals but it is very confusing.
Please can someone give me a easy guide?
Cheers

Could be something as simple as a bit of fluff on the head.
Have a look at the head check for anything amiss.
Also wipe around the outer edge of it with solvent cleaner so it seals well against the cap top then maybe soak it for a while.
I had a deflection on my 1604 this morning but after a...
That's weird.
Whats the Nozzle Check look like?
Maybe an encoder disc or pf adjustment issue.
I have also came across a similair issue latley on a different material. So could also be a material issue.

If you cannot revive missing nozzles you will be always fighting a loosing battle.
It is amazing how a couple of blocked/failed nozzles can make a low pass print look bad.
If the head is 4 years or older, replace head and head cable.

I need a little help.
I have looked through all the available manuals and maintenance bulletins.
And I cannot find anywhere that tells you how to route the head cables on my mimaki JV3-160S.
Can someone please help as no matter where or how I route them it fells rather snug, even more so since...
This is a hard one, as some times it just makes it so much easier to get the client in and design it in front of them.
Then at least you are not just wasting your time , you are wasting theirs also.
But even this can go badly wrong!
Many years ago when working for another sign company I was...

Their was a further explanation of why you couldn't/wouldn't get the firmware from Mimaki earlier, but it has been edited from the post.
Why?
Just register with Mimaki and they will give you what you want if they have it.
Personally I think the main thing updated firmware gives you...
I'm not running cheap equipment.
All I can say the Mutoh SC1400D (my machine) is not up to cutting Convex laminated.
It destroyed the Y axis pulley and belt.
Comparing it to the Roland GX-300 which has 350 grams of pressure and the Mutoh SC1400D with 450 grams.
The Mutoh should be the better...
I got into MX graphics and quickly jumped out.
I lost serious money on companies selling me " material that was made for the job" and wasn't!
Only two materials I would use for MX /Dirtbike Graphics and that is either Convex or Substance, but either way you look materials are very very...
This is a very expensive business to get into with low returns for your effort.
Materials are expensive and a machine to print and then a heavy duty plotter to cut them is a serious cost.
Also on a material note, Convex or Substance are the ONLY ones to use as failures using other materials are...
We have an old heat press (can't remember make) from the 70s which I was given for free.
It has outlasted 2 other new machines which were just not up to the job.
The old ones were built to last and way over engineered as it takes two people to move!
Even the more expensive machines cannot touch...
