  1. Adobe Tech Support is SOOOO Helpful, (sarcasm)

I can understand it not being supported on windows 8 how ever many years later and one OS removed, but like you said when win 7 came out CS3 was only 3 years old. I can't be the only one who is or was trying to use CS3 on windows 7. I did look for answers online long before I contacted them...
  2. Adobe Tech Support is SOOOO Helpful, (sarcasm)

Big thank you to MikePRO it must have been windows 7, you would think tech support (I'm sorry "customer service") could have told me that there could be an issue with running it on windows 7. It's funny that you have to go to a sign making forum to get proper technical support these...
  3. Adobe Tech Support is SOOOO Helpful, (sarcasm)

Mike, I didn't realize the history of bad problems with CS3 and Win7, but that got me thinking. I'm going to try installing it on a different computer here in the office that still has Vista on it. If it doesn't work, I may take you up on your offer. I would prefer to have it on my own...
  4. Adobe Tech Support is SOOOO Helpful, (sarcasm)

So I don't use adobe products too often. With the way the internet trends are going, I'm not getting too many requests for flash on websites anymore. Flash is something I strongly defended on this forum even. But because of it's uncertian future, I don't think I'll be upgrading. My version of...
  5. What to charge???????

No what he is saying is it's not wise to set your prices as if you were selling a commodity. A commodity is a GOOD which is in demand but has no qualitative difference to like goods in that same market. So if you believe the buyer sees no difference in quality, they will always seek out the...
  6. What to charge???????

:goodpost: yeah that was a good one.
  7. What to charge???????

Huh? But how do you arrive at your hourly rate? Did you pull a number out of a hat, are you basing it off of what others are doing, or have you figured out how much you need to be making in order to make a living and see your business grow? Shops are going to be different. That's why asking...
  8. What to charge???????

How do you calculate how much your time costs? What happens if you are a 15+ man shop that has a much higher overhead, and someone here on the internet that makes signs out of their garage tells you they have lower prices, would you change yours to stay competitive?
  9. What to charge???????

Jokingscroll, How did you come to your prices? For example what factors were used to calculate how much you should charge, like your costs or overhead, etc... ? Are you able to sell your products and services at those prices and still stay busy and make a profit/living? How is knowing what...
  10. We had some free advertising recently.

So this is kind of funny. We designed a logo for a nearby company. We collected the down payment and started working on the logo. I sent sketches of the design... which we watermark with our logo. They approved it and wanted us to send them the files. "No Problem" we said, we told them we...
  11. Sign Painters (official trailer)

So... anyway. hopefully that's all over. I wonder if they're going to talk about how paint has changed over the years. I think that has played a major role in history of sign painting too.
  12. Color Management

You know I actually do some design work for Roland DGA, Guess what color format I use and send them? RGB.
  13. Sign Painters (official trailer)

I think it's fair enough to say that there are a bunch of "crabby old guy's whining about change" out there. But I've actually had the pleasure of meeting some of the folks in that trailer, so if the movie features them, I don't think it's going to be a negative film at all. That being said, I...
  14. ISA who is going?

It's a surprise. :omg: While we are on the topic, does anyone teaching Corel seminars there?
  15. ISA who is going?

I've never been to Vegas. Would love to go, but it's not in the cards this year, however I have been working on something that I think will be there.
  16. "Post Crap You've Drawn"

    Well done!
  17. AVERY! You all warned me!

Personally, any distributor that tries to sell us Avery hasn't "helped out", they are trying to help the manufacture out. And honestly if you've had bad luck with the film like we have, replacing a roll of faulty material with another roll of that same brand is also not helping out. Trying to...
  18. Can you remove the side molding on Ford Transit?

I'll keep that in mind, Thanks!
  19. Can you remove the side molding on Ford Transit?

Thanks everyone. I passed on the info. The design has been submitted. It should work with or without them, so it will be up to the client and the suppliers as to whether or not to remove them. I personalty think it will look better without them. so we shall see.
  20. Prepping Clients Mentally - Avoiding problems

Fair enough John, I look at a design whether it be car, house, sign or person, as more than just aesthetics. I look at functionality too, that's why I say it helps to think of design as not being subjective to the same extent as art. Let's take a look at your people comparison. Yes, small...
