  1. Eco Sol Max 3 inks from Roland

What's the advantage over MAX2 inks? I hadn't heard they came out with a new line.
  2. Paint protection wrap

I've been using some of Oracal's Stoneguard 270 paint protection film. It's 6mil, and I'm running almost double the cut force than on regular printed/laminated film.
  3. Sprinter wrap q

I hope your business isn't doing so bad that you're having to eat the vinyl. Or do you just like trying new things?
  4. Dry erase calendar

We applied the dry erase laminate to customer supplied painted boards. It was a bit tricky to get them to stick well enough that we were happy, but after the adhesive set it was fine.
  5. How big does a job have to be to do an onsite estimate/evaluation?

Also, be aware that their prices change over time, or due to things like fonts. Their book is a good rough quote guide, but I wouldn't but in a bid until I got a firm quote from them. I know my former boss lost our profit on one or two small jobs because he was in a rush and went off book...
  6. Newb looking to learn about stickers. Eco solvent, I think?

If 24" is too large for you, you don't need to be buying a printer. Shop around and find someone you can sub out to at a reasonable cost. Depends on the application. Exposed ink will scratch off, and can be damaged by solvents like alcohol or windex. Lamination provides durability and...
  7. Video game trailer wrap

But they have plenty to do with Nintendo's stance on copyright infringement. One guy got tagged with a lawsuit for putting up posters in his business. That's low key compared to a large trailer that many more people can see.
  8. another TBT

The great thing about the vintage/retro look - you don't get complaints when it ages! Looks good.
  9. How big does a job have to be to do an onsite estimate/evaluation?

The issues I've seen rarely come from how thick the letters are, or whether their logo color is the one to use. The problems I've seen is when they take the length and width dimensions, just like Gino pointed out. I've had customers screw up measuring their vehicle door or a truck tailgate from...
  10. Question about old vinyl

They're likely past their shelf life, plus they haven't been maintained in a climate controlled environment like Oracal recommends. (source here) I would not plan on selling this to customers unless it was short term application.
  11. How big does a job have to be to do an onsite estimate/evaluation?

We had a customer that my boss had tried to get rid of when he worked for somebody else. The customer followed him when my boss opened his own business. Had a fleet of vehicles for his company that he wanted to redo graphics on. But they were never available to bring them by, and he was located...
  12. Not what I always thought...........................................

I'd guess that they wrapped all the rubber trim, and on the left it failed. Or somebody got lazy. That doesn't look like great quality though.
  13. That's Now How It Works...

At least you got a new pair of painting shorts. No worries about messing them up in the future.
  14. Camo a truck like Duck Dynasty

Pictures please! Big GI Joe fan here.
  15. Sprinter wrap q

Would creating an overlapped seam in the recess help at all? Similar idea to a relief cut, but built into the layout. That way, you wouldn't have to stress the vinyl going into the recess. As I'm thinking about it, my biggest concern with this idea would be matching up the graphics, especially...
  16. Not what I always thought...........................................

That designer needs to be fired. Horrible layouts. I bet your installers were throwing fits putting it on.
  17. Not what I always thought...........................................

I've never left vinyl on the rubber seams. It won't naturally stick to the stuff. On vehicles with very wide seams, we would adjust the artwork. The only way I can think of to fix the vinyl to the rubber would be using a bunch of edge sealer. But then you'd probably ruin the rubber at the...
  18. ? Installing vinyl on glass

Here I was thinking this would be a boring thread about a simple vinyl choice! And instead I'm learning something new. No experience with blasted glass, but I've had tons of issues with textured surfaces, like powder coating. The only solution I've had was to use tons and tons of heat to...
  19. Signs365 Laminate failure

That would be a way for more art students to find gainful employment in their field. But you'd have to get past the "I want the best stuff at the cheapest price right now!" attitude that is so prevalent in our culture right now. As I understand it, hand painted signs are typically more...
  20. Solid Vinyl to be installed onto wood.

Definitely sounds like you need to avoid the direct application of vinyl. Anything you put up is likely to leave a shadow. That's why everyone repaints when selling their house. Anything that's been on the wall long term will likely leave an outline. But I do think the pvc sounds like a better...
