Was wondering what all became of this...
  2. take up spooler

Well, not sure about that nowadays - but about 6 months ago, yes!
  3. take up spooler

I would contact Mike @ Insignia (Merchant Member here) who went through a year of turmoil with his GS 6000. In the end, it was put together out of square which caused a lot of media feed and takeup issues. Don't want to speak for him, but I'm sure he'd have lots to tell you about it.
  4. What vinyl do you use in retractable banner stands?

I ordered some of BigFish's blockout banner for retractible banner stands a few months ago (it has a gray backing to it). Absolutely love this stuff! I'm almost out of this roll and will definitely be ordering more soon. It prints beautifully, has a matte/satin type of finish which really...
  5. 6mm aluminum composite material

Hard to say how much you're going through, but if you're buying enough to buy a skid at a time your best bet might be to sub out the painting to a body shop or similar? This way you don't tie up your shop time and you're using someone that is already setup with the facilities that may warrant a...
  6. 6mm aluminum composite material

Very much doubt you'll find anything black on one side and white on the other in 6mm. Just buy a sheet of 6mm MaxMetal from Grimco (white both sides) and paint one side black. 20 minutes of your time and either a can of black spray paint or roll it on. Done.
  7. One of those days...

My "helper" shows up at Noon to start a 24' box truck wrap with me. Needless to say, I wasn't happy and obviously we got to do it in the heat of the day. Only got 1/2 done so need to finish it up tomorrow. Whew, time to go home and get a shower....
  8. The Contractor's Sign Pricing Guide

Standard digital print banners (10-13oz) have almost become a commodity item in many areas. As such it is hard to separate yourself from others doing the same thing. However, quality and service still play a big part as well as effectiveness of the design of the banner itself. Even more so...
  9. Is it just me?

Mostly, I feel it's just caused by laziness. Everyone wants immediate gratification - even though the answers are probably already posted somewhere here it takes time and effort to look for them. Also, yes, I agree there are some people in this industry that shouldn't be in it - or at least...
  10. mutoh 1614 clogged head

As others have said, use the cleaning solution formulated for your inks. Fellers sells a small (pint?) bottle so that you don't really have to tear open a cleaning cart. But I would definitely continue to do head cleans and soaks. The eco ink is pretty tame and should be able to get it clean...
  11. Thoughts on this RIP setup?

Thanks Bryan, I didn't know that. I did pull the trigger on this system, and FWIW I am not going to run a RAID setup. However, I will likely add a 2nd drive for backup purposes only. I feel for $300.00 it was hard to beat and it should get my by for a couple years before I need to upgrade...
  12. Thoughts on this RIP setup?

Yeah running Windows 7 pro now, but I'm pretty sure Wasatch is only a 32 bit application so it won't fully utilize all 8 GB but it runs fine on a 64 bit OS.
  13. Thoughts on this RIP setup?

Now I have both a Mutoh 1204 and a 1604 which I plan to control both with my copy of Wasatch which supports up to 4 devices. I also have my Summa D140 running as one of the devices. I was advised by Wasatch tech that a quad-core machine would be best to avoid bottle-knecking when using all 3...
  14. Which Vinyl?

Type of vinyl used for any sign project varies with the application, longevity required and the type of substrate/surface it will be applied to. For example; for vehicles and outdoor items intended to last a long time I use nothing but cast material like Oracal 751, 3M 7125, etc. For most...
  15. Does this reek of Scam?

Got this email this morning. Haven't replied back yet, but the generic content, poor grammer and vague details leave me thinking this is a new type of scam. I would rather not reply at all at this point. What say ye fellow s'101-ers? Good day , My name is Doctor William...
  16. JetBest USA - BAD CUSTOMER SERVICES & BULK INK SYSTEM

Running JetBest in both our 1204 and 1604. In my opinion fantastic inks - nearly identical profiles to OEM with better reds. The Mutoh smart card is a whole nother ball of wax. JetBest doesn't manufacture the bulk cartridges, plus I would imagine with a machine that new the firmware is a...
  17. Coro on a router

I think a cutawl would be your best bet - have used mine like that and it works good on coro.
  18. Summa d-140 temper mental!!!

Almost sounds like this my be an issue with Flexi settings. Does Flexi have any cut length limits within it's settings? I don't know Flexi, I run Wasatch. However, none of my contour cut issues have been similar to that. It's just when it won't read the crop marks - it won't read them at all.
  19. Dots of ink on print

Typical of you having some lint/hair/fuzz, etc. on or around your print head that is wicking ink and dropping it at random on your substrate. Do a thorough cleaning with cleaning solution and swabs around the head(s) and capping stations. Might be helpful to use a flashlight to see.
  20. Is it "Welcome to the Jungle?

Welcome to the forum - 2nd generation printer here turned sign maker. Yeah, spent lots of time at paste-up with the hot waxer, blue lines, film stripping, even ran a little bit of offset press back in the day. (Never had the opportunity to work with any lead type or letterpress.) I think...
