We do all of our own gluing and masking and then take the signs to our local boat yard. We have been using the same blaster for 25 years. 25 years ago we took him a sample sign to show the depth of blast and he has worked out super for us ever since. In fact this one man blast prob. 90 percent...
I would spray both sides with primer of your choice( I like fsc-88 for the smooth finish it leaves). Then I would spray the backround color( usaully 2 coats). Then I would hand paint the top of the letters with a lettering enamel. If you get a run over the side, you can touch it up with a small...
Luckily for us we have been doing business with this homeowners group for over 30 years. They called about 3 weeks ago asking how much to redo their signs and explained what happened. I think they are trying to do an insurance claim on them some kind of way since 4 signs were damaged. It looked...
Here is a gold leaf sign that has been there for 15 years. A new maintenance guy came through and sprayed bleech on them, went to lunch and then power washed these ( 4 signs in total). Don't know if something like this happen to yours. We also give a care for gold leaf signs instruction sheet...
We have been using the Oriental 23k patent ( prob. Chinese) gold from Art Essentials with no problems. I use Rolco slow size( clear) over 1 shot imitation gold. Depending on the job, I will sometimes use German surface gold. I once ran out of Italian patent and had to mix with the Oriental on...
I went ahead with buying the Seiko cartridges. As far as I can tell they are exactly the same. They even come in the same packaging as the HP ink. All notches match up as well. I called Seiko(and Grimco) before making my move to buy these. I was told that it is the same ink as the HP780...
I've been painting sign foam brand for years, so I will give you my opinion. I have found that FSC-88 works really good even for brushing on. I've also used Jay Cookes sign primer. 9 times out of 10 times I will spray the primer unless it's a really small sign. Sign foam's SignPrime works ok...
We use the color core as well for this use. You can not paint it. What we do if additional colors are needed is to route in about 3/8 and then fill with West epoxy using 207 hardener and a little 1shot. Have done many golf tee signs like this with no problems.
Harbor is our number 1 supplier. I really wanted to get there and see the operation. We have been using them for a very long time. Almost like family to us. Very nice people to deal with.
