  2. The Profit Sign Shop Episode / Precise Graphix

Some really funny comebacks here... Hey Gigi, I thought you had a client on "The Profit"... pretty wild show too, and spot on... doesn't your son work production on several reality TV shows? Hmmm... Also you would think they have more than one camera working the show to catch the crap...
  3. Just completed

    Very nice! :corndog:
  4. The Profit Sign Shop Episode / Precise Graphix

You would think a guy that talks about process would take the time learn about the sign process from design to build to install. Maybe these guys didn't know or had not put a/the process into place. He starts out with a computer, plotter and sign software and 130k and they build it up to 3-4...
  5. FYI!!! Before You Update to Adobe CC 2015....

All this updating has me scared... I'm afraid to update CadTools... my current settings are just right. When are we gonna watch the new sign shop episode of "The Profit"...
  6. How can I widen trim on installed channel letters

No on ever views channel letters straight on but.... What color are the returns? You can try day/night vinyl over the whole face. Though I don't recommend if the returns are black, if the letters are close together, that would make it hard to read...
  7. FYI!!! Before You Update to Adobe CC 2015....

You told me this the other day, 'deselect the box' you said!!! Francois... What happened?
  8. Request from a municipality to remove TM or ® from a sign?

I asked someone more knowledgable than me... Since all logos have some level of copyright protection, does that mean every sign has to have ©, ®, ™, SM? If every sign had a mark, and they are technically not required to have them to protect their logo, then why allow them? The idea that...
  9. Request from a municipality to remove TM or ® from a sign?

It's the norm around most cities here is to not allow it. I think this says it all... http://www.forbes.com/sites/work-in-progress/2014/03/12/when-and-how-do-i-have-to-use-trademark-symbols/
  10. No Parking and Handicapped Signs

    That's it, a Matan!
  11. Shop Drawings ?

I think you are talking about the title block feature and setting scale in Flexi, when you print, it can adjust the scale to the page you are printing, neither Illustrator nor Corel can do that.
  12. No Parking and Handicapped Signs

GG is correct... we were working on projects in Virginia almost 2 years ago, minimum background vinyl is required to meet or exceed ASTM D4956-01, 3M's 3430 exceeds that standard. The colors are required to be reflective as well, I would look at 3M's 1170 transparent vinyl. Red-1172 and...
  13. Shop Drawings ?

This is what our submittals look like. Depending on your letter size, you may only need 3 studs per letter. If the copy is exterior on a new building, they may not want to embed that deep due to waterproofing... the architect or contractor will let you know. I know how to use Corel, but...
  14. Hello Again.

    Welcome back!
  15. "Invitation to Bid"

If I was dealing with the 3 stooges... I'd rather tell them there is no such thing and no-one else can make one either.
  16. Outdoor Wayfinding Sign Refinishing

If I designed that sign, I would have screwed it into the structure from the top and bottom, using angle to angle or angle to beam. I would check there.
  17. Graduation Banners

Photographers own the photo/work. Plain and simple. How they enforce that is up to them. Just like a designer "owns" the work. To release the work/design, they have to make a written statement that they give up some or all rights to the design. Most muggles ignore the fine print or they...
  18. "Invitation to Bid"

I've seen those, ridiculous! On the RFI state that you will not give them 10%... all that can say is no.
  19. "Invitation to Bid"

I like them because that's how I make my living... I also work on estimating and bids for sign companies and get really bad specs. I just sent out a multipage RFI on a designey package where the package went through a sign shop for review... The sign shop is currently clambering to find...
  20. "Invitation to Bid"

Don't do this... bid as designed otherwise they will kick the bid back and you would have done the work for nothing. In the RFI process you ask if you can use alternatives and an optional bid. If they agree, then usually you bid as designed, and have an optional bid price.
