Convert to Paths (/Outlines/Curves).....Open in Illustrator FIRST.....save it as an Illustrator EPS ......then open it in your plotter programs. ~Gear
  2. What kind of computer do I get!?

Hey Doug, I hear ya. And to be honest, I like the newer Windows machines with XP just fine. It's just that in the past....I couldn't get nearly as much done in the day due to all the crashes and freezes on the Win 95, 98, 2000, NT (worst one of all) and ME. Yikes! My Macs just have...
  3. What kind of computer do I get!?

Oh, no 2Niner....let's not get started now...... oh, what the hell.....let's. I had the exact same 512....did lots of "drawing" with MacDraw and MacPaint. However, I have seriously been with Mr. Job's machines since Illustrator88. Remember during that time when Steve Jobs had tried...
  4. What kind of computer do I get!?

    Get a Mac. :thumb:
  5. Font Identification Assistance

"Triumvirate" (casMate), "Swiss", "Nimbus"....all are based on Helvetica..... basically the same any way you look at it. Okay, the purists among us will now enter in and deftly spank me for saying that....rightfully so.....I do appologize. However, these are VERY similar...
  6. Fexi New Version

All of the companys aren't offering upgrades , like the old days, because they are writing them to work with XP and Mac OSX. ~gear
  7. Desperate for NEW Starcraft Logo

You know what Eric? I didn't even try Helvetica, just because I figured that since it's supposed to be a "new logo" they may not have started with old Helv. But, you are right. My bad for rushing. Fun stuff to do though. I did notice when I slanted the font....it didn't work as...
  8. Desperate for NEW Starcraft Logo

Yeah, Techman, it's all based on Arial Bold. It's a pretty cool logo....sort of "80s-ish" but, that's okay. They say I'm a "little dated" as well. hahaha! Hey, SignOne....don't take it so hard. I wasn't accusing you of fishin for a freebie. I was just showin' off. I've always been...
  9. Desperate for NEW Starcraft Logo

So whatever...just for shidz and giggles here's what I did in 20 minutes. On the house.....hehe
  10. Desperate for NEW Starcraft Logo

Exactly Mr. Harley Man! I could recreate that in about 1/2 hour or less. Blow the jpg up for a template....lock it in a sub layer....and have at it on top of it. Extend Helvetica Demi or Arial (whichever is closer) convert to paths, tweak away. The icon part of the logo is about 5 minutes...
  11. corel vs. adobe

Yep. Similar here. However, I'm a Mac preferred user primarily that really like the features of both. My take on it anymore is that what you've "grown up with" is what works best. I've been with Illustrator since '88 but honestly enjoy the features in Corel. Corel has grown to be more...
  12. Font?

Yep. Optima Bold with a bevel. Not "murdered". Tweaked well actually. ~g.
  13. What kind of computer do I get!?

Mac lover here. I'm about to get a new g5. Oh, Lordy.....I'm going to be in heaven!!! I did look at the Quad, but, honestly....I'm not into heavy duty 3D rendering and I'm not a super freak about the new hot rod games so....the dual will do just fine. My g4 is still cranking thinks out...
  14. sign warehouse or sign supply

I would trust LXi over a company that is barely know. "Cipher"??? Is that really their name? hmmmmm....never heard of it. A little history, LXi was created by Flexi....which, know it or not, has been one of the best sign software builders for a very long time. For me, as a Mac user...

  18. Dislike Flexi

Market Bearing Well, my .02 is with what Doug said. And yes, it is a "chunk" to break off with the initial outlay. However, Flexi and all of the other sign-based programs are only as expensive as the market share. There are MILLIONS of units of Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel and Canvas(my...
