For me a hard stop on a color would indicate electrical. I've had dampers go bad, but the printer would still lay down some ink. Depending on the hours of "up time" I would check ribbon cables.
Take measurements of existing stripe layout, strip existing, use previous measurements to lay down knifeless yada yada yada. Getting the color approved will probably take more time than doing the job.
It is obvious you don't understand the people ripping your work. They turn out nothing but absolute perfection on a daily basis. The amount of perfectness coming out of their shops would make daVinci rethink his life. Lowly sign guys like you and I could not possibly comprehend their godlike...
Way too much for an SP540V. Sold mine for $2800 last year. Built like a tank though.
BTW ribbon cables, encoder strip, encoder board are all consumables.
Look at it from the client perspective. They may have spent hours on the design, gotten the family and friends involved and love the look. Now you're going to point out flaws telling them in not so few words that their work is crap. That's the point where things get quiet and they decide...
Nozzle check and shot count need to be looked at. Also what series 540? SP, VG, VS?
As far as being idle my SP540V would sit for one or two weeks while on vacation. Fired right up when I got back. Main thing is to leave the power on so they can self clean.
Integrated cutter is not the way...
I bring the tails(scrap) from the job in case I have to do surgery. Rare but sometimes stuff goes sideways. Can also trim any "narred" areas and make it look like nothing happened. My installer is incredible when it comes to that.
Is something wrong with your system? I just downloaded the rebrand PDF and it was 358k. My old XP rig would handle that. Also colors are custom spots(only two of them) allowing for correct output on a profiled system. Not understanding what the issue is.
