  1. Anyone seeing loads of material shortages yet?

Supplier for my foam pvc, acrylic etc...has stuff on the shelf. Supply is not an issue. Problem is the only way to get product is to have it shipped UPS. That would cost more than what I'm charging for the completed work. I'm 15 minutes away and begged them to put the material outside. They...
  2. Corner cutter recommendation

Couple decades ago I bought a fairly expensive die. Made a wood table(from scrap) with recess to hold the die. Last bit was the metal handle(also from scrap). It was a fun money saving project. Haven't tried cutting 0.040" aluminum though.
  3. Question Does Anyone Make a Printer That Can Sit Idle Without harm?

I have the answer to the OP's question: What printer can sit idle without harm? The ones your subcontractor has.;)
  4. Head "Starving" of Ink - SP-540v

Could be an air leak. Run a fill test and report back. BTW how does it feel when you pull ink through the cap tops? Lots of resistance? If not then either the cap top isn't sealing or you may have issues on the manifold side. A damper may not be seated correctly or you may have two o-rings...
  5. Trouble with vinyl print sticking to new powdercoat

Some powder coat finishes will do that. May have to use a high tack vinyl. Years ago I made some labels to go on a matte powdercoat. IIRC I used a permanent 4 mil that had over 2 mils of adhesive.
  6. I always wondered why...

With some of the new roundabouts at on and off ramps with multiple access points I can see how it could happen. Lots of distracted drivers on the road. Glad you're safe.
  7. Floor digital vinyl no lamination

On campus there is an Alumigraphics print leading into the wrap bay. Had quite a bit of traffic before the CoVid deal. I was in there last Thursday and it still looked good. Some light scuffs and that was it. Can't remember if it was solvent or UV printed though.
  8. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

Something is odd. I cut laminated wrap material at 150 with the standard issue blade. I don't need to add much to have it cut clean through. 10 or 15 grams maybe. Learned that early on when I was figuring out settings. Unlaminated 4 mil is about 130-135grams for nice clean cuts.
  9. Alodized vs Mill FInish Alum

I get mill finish aluminum blanks from a local fab shop and throw them in the dishwasher. Not kidding. Dishwasher soap cleans and etches for super adhesion. Blanks aren't filthy or I wouldn't think of doing it. Mostly dust and the odd fingerprint.
  10. Window Tinting

Like others has said Llumar is a good film. Friend of mine did commercial tinting for years and it was his go to film. One thing you will have to get really good at is shrinking the film for rear windows. Same friend that did commercial buildings also did cars and had his wife shrink film for...
  11. How do I remove CLEAR COAT.??

Now decalman said I'm on drugs or drinking. WOW!!! I don't take kindly to people casting baseless accusations. I have been nothing but civil yet he feels he needs to go on the offensive yet again. Right click on avatar, click ignore. Bye bye.
  12. Fiberglass ladder care

Before you do anything to the ladders check with OSHA. IIRC any modifications whatsoever void safety regs. When I worked in a factory there were people that would come in for inspections and not just ladders. Slings, chains, harnesses, cranes, lifts, air quality etc...
  13. How do I remove CLEAR COAT.??

How creepy and abusive. I was just trying to offer some advice and you lash out calling myself and my friends at the paint shop liars. Nice.
  14. Export as EPS or PDF ? whats the difference ?

...and you can use Acrobat to preflight files you get from clients. Make sure there are no spot colors, check layers, and if they actually gave you the 350ppi raster images you asked for. Tons of options for checking, and editing.
  15. Export as EPS or PDF ? whats the difference ?

PDF's give a lot of control over color. Besides the 4 PDF presets you can also select Illustrator, High Quality or Press Quality. Lots of options.
  16. How do I remove CLEAR COAT.??

Okay, no point in trying to help. Sounds like you got it dialed. Let us know how it turns out there boss man.;)
  17. How do I remove CLEAR COAT.??

I work with a local truck repair shop that does custom work from time to time. Guy stops in with his motorhome, wants them to "just get rid of the green stripes". They bid the job doing it the right way. Coach still has the stripes. "Just removing the stripes" came in a tic under 10 grand.
  18. How do I remove CLEAR COAT.??

Run Forrest Run!!! Only way to do that job correctly is a full strip, repaint, then graphics.
  19. Suggestions Non-sign making predicament..............

You're in the Makita eco-system stick with it. I bought the Ryobi brushless 18 volt string trimmer and it runs very well. Brushless is the key. Will trim about 200 linear feet of fence line, around the house, trees, mini-barn etc...easily on a single 18 volt 4Ah battery. Only need to run it...
  20. What's worse than covid-19? Customers not paying.

Send them to collections. If they don't pay it goes in their credit history. Years ago I had to send a couple people to collections. Odd how fast you get paid when they find the bank won't cut them a loan.
