  1. Is Mimaki Better Than Roland?

Mimaki in the lab at school runs full rolls or banner, intermediate, wrap vinyl and reflective regularly with no issues. Other than having to use Rasterlink there have been no issues. It has white ink too which runs well and hasn't caused any problems.
  2. Is Mimaki Better Than Roland?

I can tell you this. When replacing my Roland I was set to buy a Mimaki. Dealer sells Mimaki and Mutoh. He said I'b be happier with the Mutoh. After running both he was right. IMO Mimaki control panel and Rasterlink are overly complex and not intuitive. When I run both rigs back to back...
  3. Material for Warehouse Floor

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to contact Merritt after lunch.
  4. Material for Warehouse Floor

Client wants 36" diameter full color floor graphics for their factory. It's to honor their essential workers that haven't missed a day since the shut down. Forklifts are used to move product but aren't running constantly. Will be applied to smooth concrete. Need a material recommendation...
  5. D140 - Cutting Accuracy

Yup, and load it straight. Forgot to mention: When loading I bump the lead edge into the front of the platen channel, hold it there and drop the pinch wheels. Paying attention to details allowed prints over 10 feet long from my SP540V to be cut successfully. I still follow the procedure with...
  6. Touchless door opener

OP needs to look into proximity sensors with compatible door latches. Cards, fobs, "keys" can be simple magnetic or RFID. Depends how far the client wants to go with access, tracking, etc...
  7. Need Help Roland SP540 not printing questions

OP never mentioned if the printer was flushed with cleaning solution and set up to be stored. If it wasn't then game over. If it was shut down correctly try pulling ink through the cap tops with a syringe. If that fails start looking for air leaks. No air leaks then it's the heads.
  8. Printing fine print for labels

Head height makes a huge difference on my Mutoh. If I forget to set the head height small text turns out terrible. Been doing labels with part numbers in the range of 0.060". Super crisp.
  9. Water truck water design

I did a partial wrap on a Smart car for the local Rebath store. My idea was to use a photo that looked like soap bubbles on water. Bought the file from Dreamstime. Can also check Unsplash.
  10. This is pretty great...

Cool tech. This ol' dog learned something today.
  11. D140 - Cutting Accuracy

Factory settings on the Summa and standard settings in Flexi. Only thing I did in Flexi is adjust cutting pressure for different materials. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Or maybe I'm lazy... One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is trusting the sheet cut function on the printer. I...
  12. NJ Looking for a freelance Mimaki technician

Did you leave it plugged in for automatic cleanings? If so you may just need to get into the menu and do a cleaning or two. Not sure where it is in the menu though. It will go through some ink but it's better than buying a new head.
  13. D140 - Cutting Accuracy

I have the same unit and the only screwups I've had are ones I've created by not paying attention to the basics. Print needs to have the lead edge perfectly perpendicular to the edge. It is what I use for reference when loading. If you don't load the material perfectly you will only create...
  14. Laser level

There are vacuums that attach to the drill motor and a shroud surrounds the bit. It's required especially when drilling brick, concrete etc... Moze knows;)
  15. Classic Car Mural

Nice, but what software was used?
  16. Laser level

I didn't know you could lock them at different angles. Would be great when lettering from a dive platform on a boat. Lock it in at whatever angle the platform is at get to work. No measuring and remeasuring then measuring again.
  17. Just In My new bucket truck

Nice. Now all you have to do is put a $100 decal on the boom in its retracted position. Then every five feet or so of extension add another hundred.:D Local towing company wanted me to do that on their rotating crane truck. They nixed the plan.
  18. Need Help Media Profiles, ICCs and print quality

I have an i1 Publish Pro2 and automated chart reader. Setting ink limits by eye is what bothers me and is most likely causing my issues with Flexi. Of course I didn't fare any better with i1's automated process. Probably make a chart with percentages of the primaries then use a spectro to...
