  1. Signs101 WRAP CONTEST

First time I've seen this post.. guess that's what happens when you're nuts to the wall. I'll pledge something, not sure what yet though. I'm sure we'll have a few entries too. :) I think there should be 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes. Let's see what everyone's got!
  2. Oracal 3551RA

Also very happy with the new Oracal stuff. Hopefully they'll actually release it soon--I've been bugging Bucky for a while now.
  3. Wrap and Rap. Meet up.

That's one hell of an icicle Doug!
  4. Wrap and Rap. Meet up.

I think the first of March would be best.. like the 3rd or 10th. Don't wanna interfere with spring break plans.. Chris, I'm finally going to convince you to drag the boat to Havasu!
  5. Need reliable installers - Dallas, Texas

Adam, call John Carthey at Corporate Installations. They have installers all over Texas--great installers and great guys. 281.370.2707
  6. Wrap and Rap. Meet up.

I vote we do it at Doug's (Border.. although Isign's place wouldn't be a bad idea either!) in January. Last time I was at his palace, I knew I was in trouble when the rental car lady handed me a friggin ice scraper. I was like "what's this?" Seriously though, my place in January is 25 for...
  7. How do you handle phone quote requests?

We don't quote prices on the phone. Setup meetings and head out. Charge extra for this added service, and you'll make more money.
  8. Oracal 3551RA

3551 will not conform *correctly* to complex curves. Period. Can it be made to look like it works? Yes. Will it look good for a few hours? Yes. Will it last around complex cuves? No. Hell, Oracal tells you this.
  9. Wrap and Rap. Meet up.

Haha.. You know now I'm going to have to bring a set of boxing gloves too! I was halfway asleep when you texted me last night--had no idea what you were talking about. Wrap & Rap.. I thought you were just drunk texting again. lol Call me tonite. Mid January may be too cold (yes, it does...
  10. newbie, flatbed maintenance question

We're very happy with our FB950. The new 500 & 700 with white ink would suit your niche well I think (nice work by the way!). I'd be weary of modifying it though. I've asked Triangle about inks for our system for the past couple of years, and they say it's a no-go. They have been unable to...
  11. Signs 101 Membership Qualifications

This is a difficult one. I for one would be for letting the large in-house sign departments in, but not Joe Plumber with an ebay plotter. I think what my decision boils down to is that the in-house departments aren't harming our community or industry, but the do it yourselfers are. A...
  12. Best Flatbed?

Keep in mind Art.. the vacuum beds on most of the printers now are big. Ours is 4' deep, so it's holding onto a ton of the board at a time. We can run up to separate pieces at a time across the platen, either using the registration pins or reading each piece.
  13. futura look-alike

    perfect, thanks Rick!
  14. futura look-alike

Help me out please! thought it was Futura but he t's and s's are a bit different. thanks for your time everyone!!!
  15. interview

Good luck man! I say slacks and a polo. And NO on the sanuks!
  16. Wrap Design/Printing Question

I hate horizontal seams.. love some horizontal panels though! The best seams are no seams!
  17. Best Flatbed?

No problem. On the FB950 (and FB500 & FB700, not sure about others), as soon as the trailing edge of the sheet being printed passes the alignment bar, it drops so the next sheet can be set. The printer turns off the vacuum zone in the rear loading area until its ready for the next sheet...
  18. Best Flatbed?

We run the FB950 - a belt driven hybrid. I think it actually handles both rigid and roll media very well. The only problem we ever have is printing on banner, with heavier rolls, we tend to get some puckering entering the machine. This isn't a function of it being a belt drive, it's caused by...
  19. Best Flatbed?

If you really only *need* 200sf an hour, you can get that pretty cheaply. Brand new machines that'll run white for less than $150k, on their slowest print speeds. I'd be thinking about what you're going to need down the road a ways.. 200sf an hour probably won't cut it. If I had no...
  20. Printing 7.5M books a week and can't make it

ROFL I love when Iron Sheik calls Hulk Hogan a jabrone on Stern. Priceless.
