I agree with everyone else. If we do have to do a sit down/over the shoulder guess who is standing over the customer's shoulder. My boss aka the owner of the business.
We have a countertop touchscreen monitor that shows samples of work done and also a font list but that's it. We have it setup as...

No Weekends
We're located on the only street right thru town with high visibility so we still have walk-ins.
Always wondered about opening Saturdays if business got slow. I know I'm a weekend kind of business guy. I won't stop into a place monday thru friday because I work and can't...
Ever notice how every conversation starts with the person's name? Drives me insane. If there's only the two of you anywhere near and you already know each other why would you start by saying their name? And every time a person gets out of a car they leave the headlights on and the door open...
Yes, there is plug-in cutting software for illy. FineCut. We use it with Corel. Same issue as above though. I can't seem to get it through the heads of some here. You don't need a stroke/outline on a fill. The cut line is the edge of the fill. If you have both you'll have 2 cuts. As an option...
Same response I always give. Why templates?
We use the old tried and true method. "Survey" each vehicle. i.e. slap a 1" x 12" magnet on the sides and back then take straight on photos. Jot down key measurements. Scale the vehicle to size in the desired program then begin designing. 90% of the...
Never really considered that. But here's why.
I'm the designer/file prep person. Somebody else does the printing/runs the RIP. That person doesn't have the same "design knowledge" and limited to just cropping and or resizing. And like I said 9 times out of 10 something needs fixed/rearranged...
Thanks all for the inputs.
Didn't want to go there but I believe it's all in the pdf settings on output. You can design in whatever program you want but you better know the "correct" way to produce a print ready pdf. The only thing that bothers me about using photoshop is that it rasterizes all...
We apply a roll laminate to the foamcore unless it already has it. Print to paper with matte lam then use the laminator to cold press the paper to the foamcore. In a pinch on 1 or 2 I'll hand squeegee smaller posters to save time. Got away from printing to decal for the same reasons. The decal...
Yep, that's what we did and got a black line through it. I did notice that the line will appear only at a certain zoom level. I think I'm gonna try and nudge that one piece about .01 inch then rasterize it all.
We've been given a pdf as a "print ready" file. We don't send the file straight to print without checking it for proper size and such. The 1st method we try is importing to corelDRAW that way any vectors are retained. If that looks a little squirrely we'll try and open in illustrator. If things...
This can happen on long runs and/or with heavy materials such as laminated reflective. We try to keep it to 10ft max. Make sure pinch rollers are at max (strongest pinch)
Yes, we use a bleed on all to compensate where possibly.
Try opening the pdf in illustrator and save out again as pdf. Then try flexi on that file. If things still get "scattered" you can always open in photoshop and save as a flattened tif. Only drawback is having to do one page at a time.
