It's 100% scam, I've dealt with dozens of these, normally it's banners they want. Whenever you hear "I will arrange pick up" or "What form of payment do you accept?" those both are scams. If he made a payment, it's by a stolen credit card.
It's not cheap but not expensive as others. But it is really good material. I am not sure why their prices aren't listed. I use Versaworks since I have Roland's.
I used to be open on Saturdays for about 4 years, rarely got a customer, mostly one off cheap ones. But I used it for a day to catch up. Now I won't do it anymore, when I do go in on a weekend, I lock the door behind me and won't answer the phones.
Unlaminated vinyl will always outlast the coroplast anyways, so adding laminate is a waste of money and an extra step. However it does protect the ink. But then there is another issue, buying cheap laminate to apply to a vinyl that may not be compatible and could fail quickly.
I actually have a sign above my front door on the inside so they see it when leaving, it states that once the signs leave the shop, the customer agrees they are in good shape and accepted them as is. Sometimes this makes a customer double check before leaving to look for issues. Once it leaves...
I won't touch it for $1/sq.ft. I only produce high quality signs and refuse to do what these mass printing shops do. They generally use china banner and print at billboard quality.
Put a 48 hour return policy on all signs, this will stop issues like this in the future. It looks like they were pressed together, another thing is that ice is a killer to printed signs. It doesn't look like a standard print issue. If they left your shop in good shape, then it's on them.
No thanks I'll leave it as it's a fact and not false. Avery top coats their translucent vinyl. I rarely ever use an Avery product so I don't know what else they top coat.
