  1. What entry-level laminator do you recommend?

I recommend spending the money to getting something good. You get what you pay for and you don't get what you don't pay for. I recommend the SEAL Base EL-54
  2. Printing on Translucent for backlit outdoor led illuminated signs

Why go through all that extra work and twice the material cost?
  3. Dark Colors

Sounds like a sensor or you may be using a OEM ink and the chip isn't registering.
  4. Printing on Translucent for backlit outdoor led illuminated signs

I've seen a dozen of clear printed ones around town with white ink and you can fully see the bulbs through it. The point of illuminated signs is for them to illuminate and not show hotspots or bulbs/diodes/tubes.
  5. Printing on Translucent for backlit outdoor led illuminated signs

Never print on clear, always use double-print on white translucent.
  6. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to my friends, family and strangers.
  7. seaming question

In an unrelated reply, from what I've seen the general rule of thumb is a 1/2" seam. For large murals I've seen 1" which works well. But when you do 1/8" and 1/4" it makes a higher visible seam line which is bad. Also never butt the edges together on a vehicle or anything for that matter as they...
  8. Vinyl won't stick to glass

Well yes and no. If you wrap a window, you must use cast vinyl in that kind of weather, but really best to always use to wrap with. However if you do just some lettering like the hours, that isn't going to make a difference and you can use immediate.
  9. Vehicle installation pricing

Most of my wraps are the best vinyl I can get and I charge $9 - $9.50/sq. ft. with an $80/hour install rate. I charge around $2,600 - $3,000 for a car.
  10. Corel or Adobe?

This thread will cause arguments and probably get 60+ replies to it. Adobe used to be the software of choice, because before Corel X3, Corel was crap. Once X4 hit, it was a complete game changer. Now with X8 it's an industry leader and Corel is built more for signage now than an art program...
  11. Vinyl won't stick to glass

It greatly depends on the brand, type and color of intermediate vinyl you use. If you use Oracal's 651 Silver or Gold, it won't last long, if you use standard colors it will. If you use Oracal's 751, that is one of their worst products so it will fail. If it's in the shade year round, it'll...
  12. Vinyl won't stick to glass

Some windows have a coating on them now, similar to a wax feeling. No vinyl will stick to it. Also check to see if it has a shatter break film on it, if you cut it with a knife and it leaves a cut, then it has a film. Also never use Windex ever! It has ammonia in it. Bad for vinyl
  13. Looking for a reputable Stainless steel fabricator

There is a place called CMI in my town that does it. Little expensive, but amazing work, they do a lot of DoD contracts.
  14. Are you guys finding it harder and harder to actually talk to a customer?

I have issues with sales. Everything is no soliciting now and some people are more than happy to kick you out because of it.
  15. Best place to hire experienced sign people?

All the college kids around here party and get drunk. This is a big college town. I haven't found a decent one yet. Also what's the point in hiring someone for a year or two? It can take an entire year to fully train someone and then they leave and all of it was for nothing. I can understand if...
  16. Best place to hire experienced sign people?

This thread killed my chances of interviewing you.
  17. Does Fellers short everybody on small orders of "vinyl by the yard"?

I stopped using Fellers after getting screwed many times. 6.5 years great company, for the past year, horrible.
  18. What should I do on the shop car?

That is actually looking kinda cool.
  19. Suggestions How much should I pay an employee?

If I had an employee for 16 years, they would be making $50k - $60k too.
  20. Oops

Well they have to give it to you
