Two new cap tops
I just replaced the two cap tops.
The magenta and yellow cap top is bone dry after doing a test print.
The black and cyan are both printing perfect.
With the heads parked on the capping station can I connect a syringe and slowly pull some ink from the tube under the cap tops...
Test Print
I will post again once the new cap tops arrive and I install them.
I even received a nice phone call from Roland Support with some very helpful idea's.
Sorry for the last very long post.

Changed dampers
I just switched the yellow and magenta dampers and it started to print yellow and then went right back to magenta.
The New caps tops should be here today and I am thinking it must be a bad cap top.
I had removed the cap top in question and pulled the springs apart just little...
Sp-300
A Roland SP-300 has only two heads.
The one head is for the magenta and yellow color.
When I print any image that should be yellow instead it's magenta colored.
The crazy part is the test print looks perfect in all colors and no drop out.
Thanks Jim
I fixed the problem of cross contamination with the yellow cartridge after it ran out of ink with no warning message with a new yellow cartridges and I replaced the dampers and used the syringe to draw the yellow into the damper with no problem. I also flushed the lines first.
My test print...

Just wanted to let you know that I did just what you said by removing the springs from under the cap top of the head that was giving me trouble.
I just stretched the spring a little bit and then I put it right back together and did a test print and the test print is perfect...
When I have the heads parked on the capping station and I connect a syringe to each drain line below the capping station I am getting cyan and black without any problem.
When I connect the syringe to the other tube for the magenta and yellow head I do not get anything but I do hear air being...

In one of your reply's to me you stated the following:
Did you make sure that your pumps were set open and also that the capping station was vertical parked?
My question how do I set the pumps to open and when you say was the capping station vertical parked did you means with the heads...

Thanks for the sarcasm but right now I am trying to get a printer back up and running.
I come to Reading a few times a year to visit Maple Grove Raceway so maybe I will stop over and say hi when I am up there.

I have an SP-300 two headed machine and my question is how do I know if I have the DX-2 heads or the DX-4 heads.
Does an SP-300 only take the DX-2 head or can it also use the DX-4 head.
I need to order capping stations but it depends which head the printer has.
Is there a way by looking at...
Thanks Artbot
I went ahead and used a pair of needle nose vise grips and they worked fine.
I soaked the capping station for about one hour and then did a powerful cleaning and got some firing a little but it needs more work.
I am using the Roland cleaning solution for this task.
How long do...
When you clamp off a drain line I was wondering what you use to do it with.
I want to soak a capping station and then park the heads in it for a while but I need to clamp off the line with something that will let the print heads move back over the top of the capping station without...
How do I manually release the print head so that it moves to the left of the capping station.
I did a test print and the magenta and yellow head appears to be clogged.
I understand that other uses a coffee filter soaked in Roland cleaning solution and then carefully lower the print head onto...
Priming dampers question
When installing new dampers do you connect a syringe to the bottom of the damper and pull ink into the damper until it is about three quarters full first before printing?
No sure if this step is needed or not.
This is my first time replacing a damper and I want to...
Owned now for 2 years
I purchased an SP-300 2 years ago and looking back it was a very smart thing to do.
When I purchased the machine from the original owner he changed the dampers, wipers, capping stations, and a scraper and then shipped it to me in the original box.
The cost with shipping...
Artbot:
Would you explain how you back flush the damper.
I have a few different syringes that I have tried to use to pull the ink out of the damper and not much success.
What type of syringe are you using and please explain just how you are doing it.
I have the Roland cleaning solution just...
Same Problem with my SP-300
I had the exact same problem this week with my Roland SP-300
No warning!!!!!!!!!!
In my case the magenta got pulled back into the yellow damper and went a few inch's up the plastic tube.
Makes for a real problem.

I think I am going to replace the tubing from the damper back to the cartridge along with installing a new damper.
I want to make sure I start fresh and with no color contamination.
Thanks for all your help and advice. Jim Hill
Thanks
I just ordered the dampers, wipers, o-rings and tubing from Jorge over the phone.
Nice guy to deal and should have everything within a few days.
I ordered extras of everything because having the machine down is the pits!!!
Thanks for all the great advice. Jim
