  1. Does Speed Kill?

We have two printers. Sometimes they'll run 16 hours a day... Sometimes two. As others have said, Printing isn't our bottle neck. Printing on 20+ (not even joking, traffic signs sound good on a roll to roll printer... But I find myself swapping media's 5-10x a day now) materials slows us down...
  2. Woodgrain Wrap

It's great money. We do a lot of boat interiors (haven't wrapped the outside yet, aside from the owners boat) aside from numbering. Even if the interior is brand new... A lot of people like it wrapped so there isn't any wear and tear. We've done a few cruise ships with dinoc.... Not the whole...
  3. Woodgrain Wrap

If its for the outside I can see it, but interior redesign I'd stick with Dinoc. I'd say for outdoors those look better than Dinoc would as well... Dinocs not so shiny and is more real-wood-looking texture. Those are nice and flashy and give the wrap pop, looks good! I'm not "hip" on the...
  4. Question Does Anyone Make a Printer That Can Sit Idle Without harm?

I don't know. We've made millions off our latex. We just did two building wraps that took 2 full rolls of material... 15 ft panels, no alignment issues... No shrinking or shifts in colors. IMO, All the problems people have with latex are user errors... Not machine errors.
  5. Woodgrain Wrap

Most boats and architectural wraps are looking for a dinoc... It has a grain/3d effect and looks more like real wood than you'll ever be able to print Ontop of that... It's thicker / more durable, and lasts 15+ years. It's more expensive than printing your own... But I can't imagine any...
  6. Question Does Anyone Make a Printer That Can Sit Idle Without harm?

Our latex printer was having issues and a tech suggested we replace every head to rule out a bad head. We replaced it..printed with it for a day and it didnt fix the issue, so we put all the old heads back in. Re-capped the new heads and put them on the shelf. About 3 months later I grabbed one...
  7. Question Scitex Series - HP VS Triangle VS Nazdar Ink

Nazdar ink is plug and play. Triangle is not - Triangle you need to bring a tech in to flush all the lines / heads and switch over all at once. For that reason alone we went with Nazdar... Unless all your inks are nearing end of life, theres just too much waste. The magenta produces much...
  8. Need Help Use of translucent vinyl over white reflective?

I think thats for backlit signs... which isnt what youre doing. Do you not have a printer? You can print on white reflective vinyl with solvent / latex printers easily to make it whatever color you want. You do lose some reflectivity... but not much. If its a rush sign, I suggest doing that...
  9. Need Help Use of translucent vinyl over white reflective?

You need to use a special transparent that won't block reflectivity. 3m 1177c for green 1175c for blue. Oracal makes one, avery too. I would not just buy any transparent and expect it to work, if it's a regulated sign you'll get into a lot of trouble. Your other option is to find someone...
  10. Need Help set cut start location

I use illustrator. But onyx can do the same thing. I believe the free graphtec studio software that comes with the graphtec can also do it... All software generally let's you pick which tool and cut order for different stroke colors. It's more of a crude way to do what you want, but it...
  11. Need Help set cut start location

You have an option of cutting layers, or colors in order. So you could theoretically have - B red c blue d black a pink and tell it to cut those colors in order and then send however many copies you want. It'll achieve what you want. A bit more effort in initial setup... But still not too bad.
  12. Can you combine ink cartridges in a jam?

A cartridge has a chip that tells the printer how full it is If one is reading at 0 and the other at 40%... Even if you full the 40% up to max it'll still read as 40%. It keeps track of how much ink is used, not how much is in the bag. Heads can die if there is no ink and it's trying to...
  13. Suggestions need help choosing the right floor vinyl for social distancing stickers

Ij40 + 8509 for cheap ones with not too much foot traffic. Ij40 + 3624 of its a really high traffic area. A lot of you guys mention using the non overlam needed floor decals... How do you find they hold up? Even ij40+8509 we end up having to replace them in a month or so. One shop gets...
  14. Wanting to expand home-based business.

If you cannot afford a new printer.... sub everything out to a wholesaler until you can. There are astronomical costs to using a printer that you're probably unaware of. Most printers last 2-3 years until they start to have problems depending on use... So if you buy a used one, odds are within...
  15. Discussion How do I know if I am really Successful ?

a 600 LB, barely able to move guy could take 10 steps up the tallest mount and still consider it a success. success is what you make of it - Everyone has different goals. you could make a million dollars a month, but be working 20 hours day and lead a stressful life...some would consider that...
  16. Is there a way to consolidate CutContour lines?

Have you tried their nesting option for illustrator? A few things on there that seem pretty cool. I usually build a 3/4 side square and step and repeat so the lines dont overlap...takes a few minutes, but I like plugins so I'm going to try and likely buy most on the website :D Thanks!
  17. FC8000 worth it?

We run an fc8000... print and cut is perfect. as with any machine... it depends on how it was used and treated. for $1200, thats not a bad price... graphtecs are built like tanks, theyre made to last. print something, bring it to the shop youre buying it from and do a test cut... if it reads...
  18. Have you affected your business this time?

I love how the same people who cried about how the Covid is fake and being blown out of porportion, and causes half as many deaths as the flu each year have started making other excuses. Covid is now at double the deaths in just 2 months, than the flu has in a whole calander year, and hasnt...
  19. Laptop or desktop?

I'd stay clear of dell for laptops. Their coil whine has turned me off of them. I had to go through 3 different laptops of my current model to get one where the whine wasnt as noticeable... Even then when I was using it for creating content and it was quiet, it drove me crazy and I ended up...
  20. Have you affected your business this time?

We've been busy as usual... However a lot of our clients are late in paying. We've been staying ontop of it... but some people we've dealt with for years and regularly have credit in the 75-100k havebt paid their 30k bill in the past 30 days. When we go to collect they say they need to get...
