If I understand you correctly, this is a single label prototype and therefore not something that you would sub out. There are too many factors involved to be able to tell you what to do without more detail or seeing/having the artwork, but there certainly are many ways you can accomplish this...

It's actually supposed to imply that it is gold not yellow. In an actual production piece it might be some type of gold. I'd have to tweak the color for print apparently. I realize there is no green, leaves, trees, etc. in this logo, maybe that's subconsciously what you find is missing.

Definately better font choice and placement, you might also try Impact for Political Debate. Also, those characters need some more thoughtful placement.

Yes, all three Norican, Glengary and Mousse Script are all variations on the original Glenmoy. I think the differences are negligible but at least they have 3 good options to try.

I think you already came up with the best solution yourself. The weak link to your idea would be the hinge, which would probably be tape. You could try taking 2 18x24 coro panels, slitting one half way and adhereing it to the other one with banner tape or glue. That would give you a strong sign...
