  1. Windows 7

Vista could do the same thing, it just wasn't included. Virtual PC has been around for a while. Windows 7 simply comes with a free XP license (XP Mode).
  2. Windows 7

As for the original question, Omega 4 is good on Windows 7, but you may run into cable issue with certain devices. Tony has spelled this out many times and you can search the forums for answers. If you need help, feel free to give me a call.
  3. Windows 7...I'm in Love

    Not really the case anymore.
  4. Windows 7

For a while, this was true (mostly PCU dependent). After a while, XP Mode was changed to support most any modern processor. Please note that XP Mode is not "dual boot", but a Virtual PC. There is a big difference. It is a virtual Windows XP computer running inside your Windows 7 computer...
  5. Windows 7...I'm in Love

No, it doesn't. You have to install XP Mode (free) if you want to run a virtual PC in XP. Windows 7 have been great in compatibility with older applications, but in the even you really need XP, XP Mode is there.

  7. thinking about going to the apple side

You do realize that the iMac is just a laptop with a larger screen, right? You cannot compare an iMac to a custom PC. While it does have an IPS display, it has laptop components and limitations. I would no more recommend an iMac for serious large format design than I would any laptop. The Mac...
  8. thinking about going to the apple side

There are a lot of them. Just a quick search on one website: here I have really liked the 2711u and the 3011u. A decent video card should be able to handle that resolution. Like I said, most anything that is available in a Mac is available for PC.
  9. thinking about going to the apple side

Sometimes, there is more to the "experience" than hardware and software. Sometimes, it is a matter of pride, status, or nostalgia. There is a lot to this and Apple markets the "feeling" of their products. I owned an iPhone once and I saw the "pride" other iPhone owners had in their phone. It...
  10. thinking about going to the apple side

This is absolutely not true. Apple makes about 0% of their Mac hardware. They do not design PC hardware, nor do they somehow make it work better. They build with almost identical hardware available to any PC builder (as anyone who has built a "Hackintosh" knows very well). The increased...

Why you are considering the move?
  12. The Urge to purge: Old CDs

+1.. rip em to ISO, then if you need them, run them from a virtual CD/DVD drive. No need to burn another copy, ever. Of course, I would always backup my ISO just as I would any digital file.
  13. Hard Drive Prices Skyrocketing

I would never store my data on a consumer grade external. Backup, maybe, but not my primary data store. They use cheap drives and even if you don't run into overheating, you are probably going to lose the drive sooner than later. If I had to use an external at all, I would get a high end...
  14. Hard Drive Prices Skyrocketing

My distributors have been sending me photos of the Western Digital facility in Thailand underwater. Since the flooding started, hard drive prices have doubled. It is crazy. It seems to be the higher quality drives that are the most affected. Western Digital is out of commission and Seagate...
