  1. Anyone seeing a slowdown due to coronavirus?

Several of our customers have shut down, schools and sports teams. We are looking at a month right now. We don't know if any of them will cancel orders or if they will not order because of it.
  2. Curious how others would've handled this order/customer

What color were the shirts? Do you have a picture you can post?
  3. Question Making stickers and cutting

I would sub it out. Spending $20K on a print/cut machine isn't worth it unless you are doing a lot of these.
  4. When you outsource, do you tell the customer?

It depends on the product and the customer. We have had a few Piece-of-Work customers that tried to see in the back of the shop to see our equipment. We have also had customers ask us if we had a particular brand of equipment. Really it is NOTB. The more they insist on knowing the more they are...
  5. Can't quite get it

    TIA
  6. Sales tax question

I didn't mean it that way. Either call it out as a line item on the invoice or build it into the price but the vendor would submit it at tax time. I didn't mean leave it up to the customer to send it in.
  7. Sales tax question

In California a sellers permit is required to resell goods. If they are not resold then a sales or use tax is due on them. As an example, if you open a Christmas tree lot, any unsold trees will have a use tax due. I would say since he is not reselling then the tax should be levied. It doesn't...

  9. Association Memberships

We are in a medium to small town in So.Cal., about 70K people and the COC meetings were either very large corps like the phone and electric company or very small, 1 man/woman shops. The price was expensive too, several hundred a year. It also cost more to do anything so for us we dropped out...
  10. Pantone colors chart ??

We have this same issue. You are better off printing the Roland color chart and using that. If you want you can build the Pantone equivalents next to each Roland color. As mentioned, the point of the swatch book is to show what it will look in conversion. If we need to match a PMS color will do...
  11. Financing Soultions?

Over the last 8 years we have used US Bank Equipment Financing 4 times. They build the rate into the payback so there is no advantage to paying it off early. The rate depends on how much you finance. We have been charged between 4 and 7 percent over the 4 loans. There is an up front fee of $500...
  12. Local Competition

When we first started out we had 8 competitors within a half mile. We opened are B/M store in 2008 right as everything real estate was going down the tubes. Not only did we have far lower rent because of this we had some competitors coming to us hoping we would source work to them. In the end...
  13. How do you manage your color match

We use a Pantone Bridge book which gives us the 4 color equivalent and then see if VersaWorks has a matching color (we have a printed swatch board for that). Colors like Blue are often not great. Sometimes we have to make a custom swatch sheet to get the best match.

  19. Friday giggles

Your friend needs a Pantone Bridge Book, about $120, to match the colors. He probably needs the right ICC profile for the printer/software as well. Having the right tools makes a big difference.
